The set is due out in a couple of weeks, I just figured by now Fox would have the review copies out. Has anyone seen any? I already have mine ordered but I wouldn't mind reading a few opinions of the set before it is released.

Do you really need a review in order to decide on purchasing this?

Nope, I actually have mine pre-ordered but I would like to read about the discs. Really interested in the new anamorphic transfer and the dts track. Just find it strange that nobody has reviewed it yet.

Give it some time... you'll get better results when the set is released in another two weeks.

Wrath's right that it's damned odd Fox haven't sent out review copies yet. We usually get their titles about a month pre-street, but my DH set has yet to arrive. I hope to get it this week based on comments from their publicist, but I have no idea why there's been a delay. This package sounds so great that you think they'd really want all of the pre-release hype they can muster...

Great! Can't wait. Die Hard is one of my all time favorites and this disc looks like it is gonna be a good one. I'm sure the video quality is improved being anamorphic and all but I wonder how much of a re-working the audio got. I figure some since they went to the trouble of adding a dts track. Anyway, you should have a good time tonight.

Also, not that it is important, but I am curiuos about the box, is it just your standard cardboard fare or is it spruced up any?

Thanks again for the update and I look forward to reading your reviews.

I don't think that the DTS tracks will be new. All of the DH films appeared in DTS on LD, and I'd expect that the DVD would use the same track. However, I never owned any of those discs, so I can't do any direct comparisons. I'm sure others will comment upon that topic in the weeks to come.

As for the case, it's lighter than air! That's because my discs came without a slip case. As was the case with the Marilyn Monroe "Diamond Collection", Fox simply sent me the individual discs without the unifying box. Frankly, I'll be surprised if it's anything other than the standard cardboard slip, but I can't say anything about it, unfortunately...

Thanks for the info. I bet you are correct, I wasn't aware that Die Hard was released with a dts track on laser. I'm sure they just used the same master, still it's nice to have the choice. Kudos Fox!

Again, I am really looking forward to your reviews.

dvd.ign.com is "counting down" to the release. They posted a review of the third installment today, and will follow with the second Friday and first Monday. Good stuff!

Can anyone who has an advance copy answer a question for me? Are the movies in three double Amray cases (like ID 4) or are they in the slim double (like Cast Away)? If they really are three double amrays in a box, that's a HUGE amount of shelf space that they take up. Can anyone take a picture of the box so I can see what it looks like?

It is 3 Double Alpha's (The big ones) but it is hardly what I would call "HUGE" shelf space. I prefer them in this packaging because the largeness just spouts "Special Edition". Wonder what Freud would say about that.

Okay, www.dvdfile.com confirms that the little "fluff" promotional featurette from the original DIE HARD DVD has been migrated over to the Special Edition, and www.dvdauthority.com reports that the little "fluff" promotional featurette from DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE is also on the new S.E.; therefore, the obvious, and admittedly anal retentive, question of the hour is, is the little "fluff" promotional featurette from the original DIE HARD 2 DVD the same as the one supposedly on the new S.E.?

Filmmaker, the featurettes found on all three original DVDs DO migrate to the new set, and that includes DH2. However, there's one difference: all of them are a little longer. The Die Hard piece adds an extra 90 seconds, while Die Hard 2 program goes for an additional 25 seconds. Lastly, DHWAV's featurette runs an extra 75 seconds. Why do the running times differ? I have no idea - it's not like there wasn't enough room for the longer versions on the old DVDs...

Oatsdad, thank you, and that's fabulous news! Now I don't have to have any regrets about selling off my old set at www.half.com!
