I'm talking a class in Film, and developed an interest in French films. Do you guys know of a site that carries French titles (preferrably with english subtitles)? Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks.
Thanks.

...French films from France - all featuring optional English subtitles...
The mk2 label recently released a very nice set of five François Truffaut movies, all impeccably produced, all with fine anamorphic transfers and featuring lots of extras (introductions, commentaries, outtakes, interviews)... what makes these discs special is the fact that they all feature optional English subtitles for the entire program - not just the movies themselves, but all extras, and the commentaries!
Titles included are:
Jules et Jim - La Peau douce - Les deux anglaises et le continent (restored to its original length) - Le dernier métro and La femme d'à côté
I hope more titles in this series will follow, eventually...

...more French movies (with optional English subtitles):
* Jean Renoir’s 1938 La bête humaine, starring Jean Gabin and Simone Simon (of Cat People fame) (like so many French originals, this movie was remade in Hollywood, in 1954: Human Desire directed by Fritz Lang, the stars then were Glenn Ford and Gloria Grahame)
* Jacques Becker’s 1952 Casque d’or, starring Simone Signoret and Serge Reggiani
* Marcel Carné’s 1936 Drôle de Drame, starring French screen luminaries Françoise Rosay, Jean-Louis Barrault, Michel Simon, Louis Jouvet, and a very young Jean-Pierre Aumont (oddly, although a French DVD, and R2, this disc is NTSC, not PAL)
...most of my orders for French DVDs go to à la page:

I would also (love to) recommend the exemplary, two-DVD Editions Collector of recent French mega-hits Les rivières pourpres and Harry - Un ami qui vous veut du bien, but for all the acres and acres of goodies these four discs offer, they ain’t got no subtitles - in any language, not even French...
...oh... and - on a DVD from the UK - add Claire Denis' 1998 Beau travail - an acquired taste (not sure if I've quite acquired it yet...)
