Advice on hooking up sub with exisiting system...

Ok i have the Bose accoustimass 3 (2 cubes and base module) with the v-300 package. I am wanting to get the sony sa-wm40 sub since the Bose system doesnt put out that much base. So how do i need to hook this Sony sub up using my existing speakers? I know the sa-wm40 has speaker inputs. Do i just run a rca cable from the 'sub out' of reciever to the sony sub or run the cubes off the speaker inputsof the sub? I would like to keep the Bose base module hooked up to give more base to the room besides the sony sub. Any input is appreciated.

Run a shielded RCA cable from the Sub Output on the receiver to the input on the sub. Forget the speaker connections. Keep the Bose "bass module" connected as usual, since it still provides the woofer/midrange sound missing from your speakers.

Yeah, you can pick one up at any A/V store. I actually bought 2 of them and hooked them together to put my sub on the other side of the room as the receiver.

Get a "regular" cable as the 75ohm one is for video.

Or if your local stores do not carry wires long enough just go to radio shack and buy normal coaxial cable then some RCA ends that they sell there to screw onto the coaxial cable and make your own. This will probably be your most cost effective route for long runs and will work great.

I used a 75 ohm rca cable for the digital audtio from dvd player to reciever. It works fine. Does Radio Shack carry long runs of rca cable?

<b>rubberman2k</b> both video and <b>digital</b> audio cables are 75 ohm; regular analog audio cables are generally around 110 ohm. you can certainly use a 75 ohm video or digial coax cable for regular audio (or vice versa), but it's not ideal.

I found some RCA cable(dual ends) in a 24' section, 18ga. for $4. Will this cable work if i use one side? Or do i need to go 16 or 14 gauge wire?
