I got this dvd as a birthday present with a gift receipt from Best Buy.
I have never seen the movie. Is it a good dvd to keep ?
Is it a movie that can be watched more than once ?
Thanks.

Original or Remake?
Actually, I suppose it doesn't make much difference for my review... they are both great with lots of rewatch value.
Do you like Hitchcock's films? If so, you should love it. If you don't -- seek help -- and return the DVD.

I do like Hitchcock films. I own North by Northwest.

Not one of Hitchcock's better films. Nowhere near as good as "North by Northwest"......

If you like Hitchcock and you like NbNW, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't enjoy it. The picture/sound quality of the DVD is great, there's an interesting documentary and other extras, and the movie itself is very fun.

The Man who knew
This actually is one of my favorite Hitchcock films, and I've seen it some many times I can't even count them. Saw it first in the theatre when I was a kid, and loved it. Also huge fan of Doris Day, so having her in a Hitchcock film was a big plus for me. As usual with Hitch, his process shots stand out like a sore thumb, and are especially noticeable on the new transfer. Otherwise I find this remake much better then the original, all though haven't seen it in many years. I always found the prints lousy. Day gives a fine performance, totally believable as an American mom.

I suppose it's "second-tier Hitchcock," but that's not the same as "second-tier Adam Sandler" or "second-tier Carrot Top."
