I have a new yamaha reciever and speakers and playstation2.
Whenever i start a dvd in dts sound the dts intro comes up and i get static over the piano sound. the sound in the movies are just fine! (just for the record i do have dd\dts reciever and 5.1 speaker system and have tried multiple dts dvds-gladiator,jurassic park dts,u-571.)I get same results on each dts dvds and my equipment is brand new and hooked up correctly. PLease help with your input!

I got a bunch of static through the television speakers when I played a DTS disc. Be sure to turn it all the way down.

I have a Yamaha 2095 receiver and a Toshiba 3109 dvd player.

I've never heard "static" when listening to a DVD in DTS (unless it was supposed to be there or was a problem with the DVD audio).

Although, when I play DTS music CDs (which are different from DTS DVD audio) I do get a "pop" when it first starts playing.

Since it's new, I'd suggest taking it back and exchanging it. Also, you might want to check all your speaker wiring connections to make sure you don't have any stray wire strands touching anything they shouldn't be touching.

Good luck.
