Young Frankenstien... review wanted

I really loved this movie & was wondering if the DVD version has any improvements, extras, etc.?

Thanks!

I have it, but not in front of me -- I do seem to remember that I had no problems with the transfer and there were some outtakes and interviews with gene wilder, a couple of editors, and producer types (i don't remember brooks though)

Brooks does the commentary track. It's okay... better than the Spaceballs commentary, but still kinda blah. The outtakes are hilarious though. It's a worthy purchase... even without the extras, I couldn't imagine not owning this film.

Unfortunately, it's non-anamorphic and the audio sucks.

Audio's OK, IMO

Sure, it's DD1.0 (or 2.0 mono - can't remember which) but I wouldn't say it sucks. It's perfect for the mood of the film, being a satire and a throw-back to early monster flicks. For example, the Frau Blucher (sp?) joke wouldn't be enhanced by having the horses whinny from the left rear or something. Other than the lack of anamorphic, it's a great disc and loaded with SE stuff.

My review's an older one, so I can't say if I might think differently today, but when I checked out YF back in 1999 I thought it both looked and sounded quite good. The audio was (and is) only mono, but I felt it was clear and accurate.

R2 is pretty much the same but anamorphic. Still one of my favorite movies.
