Yup, got myself one of these babies after comparing them to the Panasonic portables and the Pioneer ones the Toshiba ROCKS and it is a Progressive scan player also!!! The picture is soooooooooooooo much better that the Panasonic I could not believe it. Also works as regular DVD player DTS also. I have no self-control, I couldn't resist!! They did charge me a $13.68 handling fee, though. Oh well, I will recoup most of that by getting 1% back through you-know-where.
Thanks d2cheer!

just got mine yesterday from ubid.com, where i paid 469.00
Now it goes for 429.!!!
I bought the Sony for 1100.00 around christmas time and was very disappointed with the picture quality. The toshiba is much better.
If you want the best player out there, wait for the new 8 inch from toshiba. It should hit stores any day for a 1200,00 msr.

Why did i buy another one???...two kids

wow! you buy portable DVD players for your kids?

I wish my dad was that generous, the only thing he would get me is a math book back in high school.

Arghhhh!!! This would've been nice to know before I ordered mine for $160 more!!!
Maybe I'll go ahead and order another for $429 and ebay it, or something, to make up for my stupidity.
On the bright side, though, I just got it yesterday and absolutely love it.

Are you positive that Toshiba is coming out soon with an 8 incher? Will it be a progressive player like the 5.8 inchers as well?

Well I have confirmed on the 8 incher coming out real soon SDP1500. But I could not tell if it was a progressive player like their SDP1000. If it isn't, I don't think the picture will be that much different than that of the Panasonics.

What's weird is that it doesn't list it as being a progressive player like the older model. So I guess it won't be. Another thing I noticed is that the screen has black spaces on the sides of the new model. I would assume this indicates that next years model toshiba will fill that space up with a new 9-10 inch screen. Kind of like how Panasonic worked this idea.... dvd-LV55 (5" screen)and now the DVD-LV75 (7"). So, if this new Toshiba has removed the progressive feature and has those annoying black spaces on the sides... forget it. I'll wait and pass on this. I was thinking of selling my Panasonic dvd-LV75 in hopes of buying this new toshiba. But I don't think it will that much better to cause me to upgrade.
