I have the Toshiba 55hx70 tv and I just bought the Toshiba 6200 dvd. All hooked up with component videos in the color stream plugs. Now I really dont see that big of a inprovment over the VHS tapes I was useing before I got the dvd. I have the dvd set on progressive scan, so I really dont know what Iam doing wrong. I think the picture should be better, maybe Iam asking to much. please help
Thanks Kelly

No you're definitely not asking too much. If your DVD's look no better than VHS, progressive or not, then something is very wrong. Try it interlaced and/or try the S-jack incase there is something wrong with your component connection. If that looks no better, then there could be a problem with your DVD player.

I will try moving the plugs to the other inputs maybe they are bad. I did think that the progressive mode was better then Interlace am I wrong about that?

1 question:

Were you watching VHS tapes on that tv?

1. Progressive is better than interlace.
2. Check the display (info) on the TV for the DVD input to see if it is at all 'reading' the progressive signal.
(ex. 480i vs 480p)

I went all over the tv manual and I didnt see any thing about displaying progressive mode on the tv. Iam going to go look to see if I can find anything about it on the tv.
