Agreed. It's pretty amazing anybody would try to pass that off as a typo. They realized that they should split it all up and make more money.
The real shitty part is most places will not accept returns on opened BD packages. And the only many customers will realize they Japanese audio was left out is when they have opened their set and popped in the first disc.

Important Update on Speed Racer Home Video

We’re extremely excited about bringing Speed Racer to fans, and pre-orders have already been moving fast! Owning the complete series of Speed Racer on Blu-ray or DVD is a great way to see it again, or introduce new fans to this loved title.
For both of these packages, we’re including the original 52 episodes of Speed Racer, with the English audio from the 1967 broadcast run. Fans will note there is an error on the Blu-ray packaging only, as it indicates Japanese audio with English subtitles is also present – this is incorrect. The DVD packaging has the correct audio indicated.
We correct this issue on future prints of the packaging for the Blu-ray version, although some copies will be released with the incorrect audio/subtitle indication. For any fans that have issues or questions about this release, you’re welcome to contact our Customer Service team.
And, for fans still looking for more, we have the collectors’ edition including both Speed Racer and Mach GoGoGo releasing later this year! Stay tuned for more Speed Racer news!

In my email I suggested that when they release the Japanese version they send free copies to those of us who pre-ordered the current Blu-ray release on the assumption we were getting the Japanese version. No mention of that in their response.

Seems like they basically admitted that the BD was going to have both in the first release and now you have to wait and pay for the more expensive version down the line. So not only are customers SOL on the Japanese audio, the packaging is even going to say it has both when it doesn't. 
Glad I held out and I hope people that did order get something extra out of all this. I'll be waiting till the version with Japanese audio gets to a reasonable price.

Thank you for your quick response. As much as I like to have the original Japanese set and the 1997 version, I cannot see myself spending that much money.

Is there really a huge market for Speed Racer still left in the US? Its primary American demographic is quickly getting older and older. This feels like 15 years too late.
