Re: Cowboy Bebop TV series on Blu-ray

Got my Funimation exclusive version in today. It looks really nice in the included stand. Unfortunately the lower left corner has a 3/4 inch crush in it. It was sealed that way so it looks like it was not done in shipping as the box was perfectly fine. Guess I am screwed on that.

Be careful opening it up. One of my discs (luckily a DVD) hit the floor before I even open the gatefold so they are likely getting shifted around during shipping. The sleeve holders do not seem necessarily equal among tightness/size. Some can slide in further than wanted while others may sit out on the edge a little and need an extra push to get them in the right place.

I can't say the packaging is definitely worth the extra money but since I got mine for around $35 or so after selling my old dvd set, I am not complaining.

So what do you think? Should I complain?

It really irritates me the more I look at it. And I am not the OCD type.

Are there even any more copies left to exchange it with?

I think all of the limited editions are sold out, but maybe they can give you a partial refund or something.

If they're smart, they kept a few around for just such an occasion. Good luck.

My FUNimation Exclusive just came in the mail and it is flawless. Granted, it's still sealed but I don't think any of discs are loose. The shrink-wrap is tight.

The "ring wear" cracks me up, because they made it look like a worn LP jacket.

The disks have a vinyl texture to them as well.

I think all the versions do. The regular set I was sent to review also has the vinyl texture to the discs.

And of course Amazon shipped my LE in a bubble mailer so now all eight corners are horribly bent in. Sheesh.

It's weird how their shipping methods can vary so much. They sent mine in a box with enough bubble wrap to keep it snug and prevent it from bouncing around.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to do at this point. If I return the thing I don't think they have stock to replace it. Sigh. First world problems.

In the orders section there is a place to report damaged packaging, if they don't have more stock(they might) you could at least get a partial discount, or the complaint could cause them to package your stuff more carefully in the future.

Did they actually use bubble wrap or was it those air bubbles? I have never seen Amazon use bubble wrap in many years. I asked them to use bubble wrap for some books that kept arriving damaged, and they sent replacements in big boxes with no padding at all so the books just slid around and were even worse.

They have no extra stock and don't anticipate any more on the way. The last batch they put out for like 30 minutes was the reserve they had it seems. I talked to customer service yesterday.

I emailed Funimation on Monday about my damaged copy and have yet to get a response back.

Fuckers.

I figured as much. Thanks for the heads up. At least the discs are in good shape.

No, it's not bubble wrap, but I don't know what the term for it is, I guess it was the air bubbles you're referring to. They seemed to do the trick as my LE arrived in perfect condition.
