Is there any good sword and sorcery anime on Blu-ray or DVD?
I have been out of the anime loop for a while, and was just wondering about this. I have both Lodoss war DVD sets, and have been looking to get back into it. Mecha and monster titles are good also What are your recommendations?

It really depends on what you like. I will put some anime names up that I bought. Just go to animenewsnetwork.com and look up these titles to see if you might like them. I will post more if I think of some more.
For sword and sorcery animes try these.
Shakugan No Shana
Fate/Stay Night
The Sacred Blacksmith
Tower of Druaga
Kaze No Stigma
Hero Tales
Blade of the Phantom Master
Scrapped Princess
Familiar of Zero
Queens Blade
The Third
Legend of Himiko
Some of those as very good. but since you are also looking for Mecha and monster i'm not sure what you would think of them, Let me know. What I like to do when I am looking for a new anime is find the openings of each anime on Youtube

Most of these are pretty old, so you may have already seen them. Also, I'm assuming you want a combination fantasy/mecha or fantasy/monster show, if you want separate mecha or monster shows, let me know and I can make different suggestions (as I especially love mecha).
Fantasy:
12 Kingdoms
Basilisk (this is more ninja/samurai than swords and sorcery)
Full Metal Alchemist (the newer series is closer to the manga)
Fushigi Yuugi
Scrapped Princess
Slayers
Tsubasa Chronicle
Fantasy + Mecha:
Aura Battler Dunbine/Wings of Rean (may be very hard to find, however)
The Vision of Escaflowne (movie and tv series are alternate stories, but both are worth watching)
Magic Knight Rayearth
Mobile Fighter G-Gundam (maybe not as much fantasy as it is Gundam + Street Fighter)
Fantasy + Monsters:
Berserk
Claymore
Full Metal Alchemist (the newer series is probably better and more closely follows the manga, but I still have a soft place in my heart for the original)

BERSERK!! I love Berserk.
I'd also recommend Full Metal Alchemist and Scrapped Princess. And Escaflowne (the series). That's like Swords and Socery and Mechs!!
12 Kingdoms is good but it can get confusing with all of the made-up terms.
Oddly, I'd also almost put Samurai Champloo into this category (sort of...no magic...but lots of swords!)

Pretty much everything's been suggested (at least what I can think of), but let me be another voice for Fullmetal Alchemist (either series) and D. Gray-Man.

You might already know about it, since you've got Lodoss, but I'll go ahead and list it. Rune Soldier (Rune Soldier Louie) - it's basically comedy Lodoss.
