Re: Unreleased Licensed U.S. Anime Properties
I wish they'd given SUMMER WARS a theatrical release in the U.S. It's vaguely similar to INCEPTION and probably would have appealed to that film's fans, if they could get over their resistance to taking "cartoons" seriously, but was, IMHO, a thousand times better than Nolan's film. I saw it at the New York International Children's Film Festival last February. A blizzard was in progress, but the place was sold out anyway. And the film's director was there, worried that the kids couldn't read the subtitles. The festival director told him, "Don't worry about it. These kids'll be fine." And they were.

I like the Art booklet idea for Rosario + Vampire. I was expecting FUNi to include something perverted, like how we got Sia's "God" panties with Shuffle! art box.

Clannad After Story (to be dubbed) and Clanna Movie licensed/dubbed
From Dave Williams...
Figured I'd pop in here and post as well. At the Sentai Filmworks panel I just did at Izumicon, I announced that we have heard the cry from the fans and Sentai WILL be going back and doing a dub for Clannad After Story. We'll do an exchange program of course for those who want to trade in their subtitled only version. The release will be coming out in April next year.
In addition I announced that Sentai Filmworks has picked up the license for the Clannad movie and will be releasing it dubbed and subtitled in March.
BTW, this will also mark my return to doing some ADR directing as I will co-direct these with Janice.

Infinite Stratos Licensed by Sentai Filmworks

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SENTAI FILMWORKS ANNOUNCES INFINITE STRATOS LICENSE
HOUSTON, January 18, 2011—Sentai Filmworks today announced its acquisition of INFINITE STRATOS, the latest hit anime series from 8-Bit (Durarara!!, Macross Frontier). Based on the series of hit novels by Izuru Yumizuru that have already spawned a hit manga and internet radio series, INFINITE STRATOS takes the battle of the sexes to a new level, flipping conventional gender relationships through a maverick series of high speed inverted power rolls over the course of 12 extraordinary episodes!
10 years ago, the development of the revolutionary Infinite Stratos powered exoskeleton changed the world’s balance of power overnight… but unfortunately, while the distribution of IS systems to every nation on Earth HAS ushered in a new era of peace, the fact that only women have thus far been able to pilot the Stratos systems has sent the relationship between the XX and XY-chromosomed halves of the human race into a spiraling tailspin! So when 15 year old Ichika Orimura is suddenly discovered to be the first male with the ability to control an IS, whatever plans he might have had for his own future are tossed out the window even as he’s thrown to the wolves and enrolled at the otherwise entirely female Infinite Stratos Academy by order of the Japanese government! It’s one Boy Vs. all the Girls, and the question isn’t who’ll come out on top… it’s who will survive the educational experience in INFINITE STRATOS!

Jared Padalecki to Dub Entire Supernatural Anime Season
posted on 2011-02-09 22:48 EST
Live-action version's co-star Jensen Ackles to only dub last 2 episodes
The publicity staff at Warner Brothers Japan revealed on their official Twitter account last month that Jared Padalecki, the co-lead actor on the American live-action television series Supernatural, will dub all 22 episodes of MADHOUSE's first anime season. However, co-star Jensen Ackles will only dub the last two episodes of Supernatural the Animation's first season. The original live-action series follows the Winchester brothers Sam (Padalecki) and Dean (Ackles) as they hunt creatures and other supernatural phenomena across the American landscape.
The producers had already revealed that Yuya Uchida (Soul Eater's Dr. Franken Stein, Naruto Shippūden's Rinji) and Hiroki Touchi (Trinity Blood's Abel Nightroad, Bokurano's Kokkpelli) will dub Sam and Dean, respectively, in Japanese. (They already do the same for the live-action version in Japan.) The Japanese singer and actor Gackt will also voice the recurring character Andy in Japanese. The character Andy will appear in the first anime season's finale, "All Hell Breaks Loose" or "Erabareshimono-tachi" (The Chosen Ones).
According to the official website for the anime, the DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases of the anime will launch in Japan on February 23 with Japanese/English soundtracks and Japanese/English subtitles. The Zap2it website's blog reported on Wednesday that "a U.S. version is expected to be released on DVD" but neither Warner Brothers Japan nor Warner Bros. Television in the United States has officially announced an American release.

Flower Mound, Texas (February 19, 2010) - FUNimation® Entertainment today announced the main cast of the 13 episode supernatural action anime series “Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts”:
Character Cast
HIDEYOSHI Brina Palencia
KOUTA Greg Ayres
MINAMI Leah Clark
MIZUKI Alexis Tipton
SHOUKO Jamie Marchi
The ADR Director is Terri Doty.
About Baka and Test -- Summon the Beasts
When a fight breaks out at Fumizuki Academy, nobody throws a single punch. Instead, the students utilize the school’s technology to summon Avatars, pint-sized stand-ins with battle powers based on academic ability. That “academic ability” part is bad news for Yoshii – because Yoshii’s an idiot, stuck in lowly Class F with the slackers. If these misfits want to escape their dump of a classroom and earn some respect, they’ll have to fight their way up the ranks and take on Class A, the Academy’s brightest students. It’s going to be tough, that’s for sure. But once the underachievers of Class F get motivated, they don’t give up – and Yoshii can’t even spell surrender!
