U.S. Premiere Event in Downtown Los Angeles Theater

Los Angeles, CA – Following recent news of MarVista Entertainment’s aggressive acquisition strategy, the leading independent producer and distributor of features and family entertainment programming has acquired the worldwide distribution rights from Asahi Production of the action-adventure animated series, Heroes: Legend Of The Battle Disks, which the company will debut at this year’s upcoming MIP Jr market. The announcement was made by Fernando Szew, CEO of MarVista Entertainment.

MarVista will offer 26-half-hours of the new animated series, targeted to Boys 4 – 10 years old. Heroes: Legend Of The Battle Disks is directed by Masahiro Hosoda (Dragonball Z The Movie, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh) and written by Junki Takegami (Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh, Power Rangers) with character designs by Yoshihiro Nagamori (Bakugan, Yu-Gi-Oh, Beyblade). The series is produced by Kosuke Harada and Hiroaki Taneoka and by Japan’s Asahi Production (Blue Drop, Super Robot Wars Original Generation).

FUNimation acquires rights for Yona of the Dawn

Flower Mound, TX – (10/14/14) – FUNimation Entertainment has acquired simulcast and home video rights to the anime series Akatsuki no Yona, which will now be known as Yona of the Dawn. Based on the epic fantasy and romance manga series from creator Mizuho Kusanagi, whose series Mugen Spiral, Game X Rush, and NG Life were released previously in North America. The 24 episode series which will run in the Fall and Winter simulcast seasons, features animation from Studio Pierrot, known for Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul, and Fushigi Yuugi.

The title will launch October 21 at 11am EDT on FUNimation.com, with a new episode posting every Tuesday.

Synopsis:
Upon her sixteenth birthday, the cheerful Princess Yona intended to tell her doting father of her love for SuWon, but her life was turned upside down after witnessing the man she loves cruelly assassinating her father. We’ve been getting a lot of questions today regarding the Anime News Network Answerman column, where Justin Sevakis states that Crunchyroll holds the home video rights for Free! Season 1. We know that many of you fans have been very curious about the home video rights situation, ever since our initial announcement of the simulcast of season 2 (Free! -Eternal Summer-).

We would absolutely love to make an English dub for season 1 and distribute it on home video, and we would be more than happy to work with Crunchyroll to make it happen. We have reached out to Crunchyroll to see if they would be interested in collaborating on this release; however, we have not heard back yet. Stay tuned for future developments though—we’re excited to report that we will be announcing the dub cast for season 2 very soon, so please follow our Free! -Eternal Summer- Facebook page or Tumblr to be the first to hear the news!

HOUSTON, October 24, 2014 – The night’s sky hides a dark secret that will threaten the lives of not only one, but many in Sentai Filmworks' latest acquisition, Brynhildr in the Darkness. From Lynn Okamoto, original creator of legendary series Elfen Lied, Brynhildr in the Darkness is directed by Kenichi Imaizumi (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Student Council’s Discretion Level 2) with character designs by Hiroaki Karasu (MAOYU, Gatchaman Crowds), scripting by Yukinori Kitajima (Hamatora, Senran Kagura), and animation production by ARMS (Elfen Lied, Samurai Girls).

A high school senior Murakami Ryota had a childhood friend called Kuroneko who died in an accident. Ryota had made a promise with Kuroneko that he will prove there are aliens in the universe. In order to fulfill his promise, he joined the astronomy club at the school as its only member and kept observing the stars almost every night. One day, a girl who looks like Kuroneko transferred into his class. To his surprise, the girl’s name is Kuroha Neko which is really similar to his childhood friend’s name. However it seems that there is something unusual about her. It turns out that she is a witch who actually escaped from a research laboratory.

Brynhildr in the Darkness will be available soon through select digital outlets with a home video release to follow.
