Re: Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

I'll join the general consensus that this show has just enough to keep me watching, albeit via DVR when I feel like it. I don't watch any shows "live", but those I really want to watch I DVR and then watch as soon as it's done.

With 'FlashForward', it's more a case of catching it at the weekend when I want.

At least this show won't be going on a hiatus which would have killed it. I know with 'V' they are supposed to air a handful and then take a break which could be horrible for the show.

Not a whole lot happened for "the tv event you musn't miss!". If they want this to replace Lost as their big show, they really need to up their game quite a bit.

I still want to know why if the blackout only lasted 2 minutes and 17 seconds, why is there so much damage to the buildings and what not? Why did all the planes fall out of the sky? Hell just last week we learned you can fly 40 minutes or so off course because you're too busy playing freecell on your laptop.. I don't think 2 minutes would make much of a difference..

Apparently, from an answer I received in that thread, autopilot is for level cruise and doesn't handle climb out or descent for landing. If so, all planes taking off or landing were without pilots, auto or human.

There are more sophisticated autopilots for (nearly?) automated landing, but I guess they are not widely installed.

Much better that the shit last week but still not great.

I used to like Joseph Fiennes but he's pretty horrible on this show.

I think Fiennes is so busy concentrating on his accent that he forgot to act. Coupling Guy and the Hobbit are going the right route by not even trying.

Does anyone know if the actor who play's Fiennes' sponsor is also foreign? Something about his voice or manner of speaking seems odd to me and I am wondering if he is trying to mask an accent. His voice almost kind of reminds me of Kevin McKidd's, so maybe he is Scottish?

Yes, Brian O'Byrne is Irish. Good catch.

This is why I prefer to have UK actors use their regular accents.

On another note, Fiennes always looks like he's about to burst into tears and I find that distracting.

I liked this ep and I'm still with the series.

Yeah it's a bit slow, but I still like it. I'm in until ABC does its usual bullshit and cancels it midway and doesn't run the final eps.

To be fair, next week is the episode that "you won't want to miss!" I'm sure it'll make it all come together.

Re: Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

I finally caught up with this show, and like many others am underwhelmed. I find the interactions and the general story interesting, but it's just "meh". So far everything we've seen is just things we already know coming to fruition. So new brilliant scientist on the train and we get some insight into his fash and he's a bad person; so what? Why do I care?

The BIG reveal that could have been a game changer for the series came this week and I don't even know if it happened.

So Janis gets shot and has to go into surgery and comes out with an astronomical chance of having a baby. Did something just change for the first time, or does her future pregnancy remain and she just beats the odds like she was supposed to?

I thought, and the writers didn't give me enough information to figure this out, that they were trying to parallel her destiny with Schrodinger's cat. Was her surgery the equivalent of the cat in the box? Did she come out set to a different future than what she saw in her flash?

I think that Bitch Senator or whatever she was made a good point when she said that not everyone's FF will come true. I think that could also mean not everyone's FF will happen exactly like they experienced even if they do happen to play out.

Yeah, you can hear his native accent as one of the Caffee's cousins on Brotherhood.

Re: Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

After seeing what happened at the end of the next ep after this one It appears that the future can be changed or can it.

I was listening to Dom MOnahan talking to that girl on the train and thought I heard him say something that seemed to be alluding to the idea that events in 2 different time frames can happen at the same time.

So the ff actually happened during those 2 minutes, not necessarily 6 months in the real future, so....
since these events in the ff already happened there is no reason what was seen in the ff cannot be changed.

the ff actually happened during those 2 minutes, so whatever happens in 6 months is not written in stone.
