No he means that if he wants to watch the premiere since he missed it, it's out there through alternative means.

Easily the weakest season of the series, IMO anyways, and the first season I won't buy on dvd. Way too contrived with shit they pulled out of nowhere just to build some unearned conflict and tension - it was actually quite a downer of a season.

Is it better than the Landry/Tyra murder plot from season 2 i think it was?

I would rank them 1,3,4,2.
It not a great season, but for me it has the best episode of the entire series (I think it is called "The Son").

Agree, The Son is probably one of the best episodes of season 4. Zach Gilford gave an awesome performance. I know the season was very dark, but there were alot of great new characters particularly Vince played by Michael B. Jordan. You NBC viewers will see.

While that was certainly a lame plot, it was such a small part of season 2 as a whole, whereas most of the stuff in season 4 bothered me and were not part of the show I had grown to love.

Yeah, honestly, I have to say that Season 4 is my least favorite, too. Season 3 would probably be my favorite, and then 1, 2, and 4. It got to where I could barely get through the episodes toward the end of the season.

I did threads for all 13 episodes on Directv. If I don't happen to do it, feel free to bump these up every Friday night. Just make sure you bump up the correct episode title.

I agree that season 4 is not their best season.
But..
Every episode had some great moments.

Can't wait! Sucks that these will be rehashed discussions that only last a couple of posts.

The blame solely goes to NBC for pushing the show back to May.

Even when the show was only on NBC, I recall FNL was never really that popular in this forum.

I don't know how I feel about last night's show, it felt so different not seeing a lot of familiar names from the cast in the opening credits. I guess East Dillion will suck all year and then win towards the end of the season. JD was a pussy last year, and now thinks he is all tough because his dad controls the panthers. Hopefully the season is good.

I just want to see JD and his dad get shit on big time this season.

I enjoyed the East Dillon locker room scene (when all the players walked out) because it hit so close to home. I thought the new kid (singing girl) making fun of Riggins was pretty good. And one of the more powerful moments was at the end, watching Tami watching Eric forfeit the game. She knew how much that had to kill him and it was ripping her apart.

Not a bad start to a rough season (w/o many of the established characters on the show).

You have to look at season 4 as a rebuilding year. Coach is at a new school and has little to no money to work with trying to rebuild East Dillon from scratch. Despite Slop's criticism, I think this is the 3rd best season behind season 3.

good premier i thought

so is this season being "dark" the only complaint or is it just a bad season

Loved every minute of the premier. I'm not sure I agree with J.D. becoming the douchebag of the show though. However, I do understand it. He got what his dad wanted and he's now big man on campus of the biggest program in the state. I can understand that going to someone's head and him becoming an asshole.

Loved Grandma Saracen telling Landry to put the football down because he throws like a girl. Also loved Tammy during the coin toss. Pure awesome. Also amazing was the locker room scene. Intense. I really liked Landry being the bigger guy to apologize first.

It doesn't help that it isn't really a water cooler show. People DVR it and watch it sporadically over the week. It's hard to maintain a decent discussion that way.

So basically it's a repeat of season one. Still love the show, though...
