List is complete.
October 1:
1:
Mama Dracula (1980) ☼. I suppose this was supposed to be a comedy. The setup is a modern day version of Dracula but instead of our hero being called to sell real estate, he is a scientist who specializes in blood research. He is challenged by Countess Dracula (Louise Fletcher slumming) to come up with a synthetic blood substitute. She is assisted by her twin vampire sons who look astonishingly enough like Punch of Punch and Judy fame. To do his work, he needs the blood of many "wirgins". They run a fashion shop and kidnap customers to supply the virgins. One of the virgins turns out to be Maria Schneider of Last Tango in Paris. Absolute garbage.
2:
Savage Weekend (1976) ☼. A pre-
Halloween slasher that could have been a good movie. Rich guy invites some friends up to his vacation home upstate while he's having a boat built. Crazed killer takes them down one by one. Usually these films write themselves, but this one fails in most ways. Still, it has a killer stalking the characters while wearing a Halloween mask (creepy clown). Takes forever to get to any killing, though. Once the killing starts then it's not half bad. Not half good, either. It's just that the filmmaker doesn't really have the beats down for a real slasher. Still, lots of boobs and a couple decent gore shots. William Sandersen (Larry from Newhart) appears playing the same character he has played in every single film he's ever been in. Same hat, too.
3:
Frankenhooker (1990). Always loved this movie. First time I saw it was at a 24 hour Horror Marathon and Patty Mullen was there in person and in costume. I was listening to Deadpit.com podcasting an interview with Frank Henenlotter and it put me in the mood for this flick.
October 2:
4:
The Beast of Yucca Flats (1961). (MTS3K).
☼ TOR. All hail TOR. I dunno. I have an affection for the guy. Of course the movie sucks, but he's always great.
5:
Night of the Blood Beast (1958). (MST3K).
☼ Roger Corman produced garbage about an astronaut who dies but is brought back to life by an alien monster. Quite possibly one of the stupidist conclusions ever.
6:
Funny Games (2007) ☼ High Def. Two douche-bags torture a family. Maybe it was better in the original German. Seemed like it thought it was more clever than it was.
7:
Night of the Comet (1984).
☼ High Def. Cute flick. Not sure why it took me so long to see it.
8:
Planet of the Vampires (1965) High Def. Mark! Mark! Striking visuals and amazing looking in high def. Actually better than I remembered.
9:
Private Parts. (1972). Quirky little flick. Not as violent as the trailer suggested. We guessed the twist pretty early. After the movie we watched the trailer and it gives it away!
10:
Gremlins (1984).

. Hadn't seen this since I saw it in the theater. Still holds up.
October 3:
11:
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
. Take away all the politics and religious rhetoric and this is a horror movie. We have Satan manipulating events and some of the most gutwrenching torture I've ever seen in a film. SAW has nothing on this. I love that there were actually people that took their children to see this 2 hour snuff flick.
12:
Antichrist (2009).
☼. Very bizarre flick. Not what I expected. More an emotional horror film than a traditional one. I've only seen a few of Lars von Trier's films but they are all very intense personal films and this is no exception.
13:
Last Man on Earth (1964).
High Def. Classic Vincent Price telling of I Am Legend.
14:
Coraline (2009)
. Watched the 2-D version. Good film but might be a tad long. I think I preferred it in 3-D, actually. It gave the otherworldly stuff more substance. Watching it in 2-D it had to rely entirely on story and it turns out the story is a bit weak. Love the scotties, though. Best dogs ever.
October 5:
15: Plan Nine From Outer Space. (1959) RiffTrax. My first RiffTrax movie. About as amusing as MST3K. That is to say I laughed a couple times. I've always had an affection for MST, but I have to admit that it might be an overrated concept. Mildly amusing but kind of annoying after a while.
16: From Within.(2009)
☼. Not bad little thriller about a series of suicides in a small religion obsessed town.
October 6:
17: Slaughter. (2009)
☼. Didn't strike me as very interesting.
18: Deranged. (1974)
High Def. Great flick. Roberts Blossom is excellent as Ed Gein.
19: Horror of Dracula (1958). Still one of the greats.
20: Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966). Very ferocious Dracula in this one.
October 7:
21: Autopsy (2008)
☼. So far this is the best of the 8 Films to Die for I've seen. Nice gore, not bad tension. All around good horror film.
22: The Broken (2009)
☼. Blah, woman gets in an accident and then is haunted by something-er-other. Blah.
October 8:
23: Dracula Has Risen From The Grave (1968). One of the better Chris Lee entries.
24: Taste The Blood of Dracula (1970) I used to not like this one as much, but I really enjoyed this one more this time.
25: Final Destination (2000). Not bad little thriller. The gimmick is too easily milked giving us too many sequels with no other purpose than to exploit the gimmick.
26: Scars Of Dracula (1970). Wow, Dracula actually gets to be charming again.
27: South Park: Dead Celebrities (wild card) Back to form in a great episode.
October 9:
28: The Gate (1987)
☼. Nice little horror flick from the 80s that I had never gotten around to seeing. Surprisingly entertaining.
29: The Sorcerers (1967)
☼. Boris Karloff still has it. Modern take on what could have easily been a Karloff/Lugosi effort years before.
October 10:
30: Vampire's Kiss (1989)
☼ High Def. Wow, what a stupid film.
31: John Carpenter's The Thing (1982)

. Love this one. Looks great on Blu.
32: Paranormal Activity (2009 version)
☼ Theatrical. Effective little film.
33: Lemora: A Child's Tale of The Supernatural.(1975). Hauntingly beautiful supernatural fairytale. Reminds me of a Charles Addams or Edward Gorey drawing brought to life.
34: Grace. (2009)

.
☼ Not bad. Not as great as I was led to believe, but effective.
October 12:
35: The Girl Next Door. (2007)
☼. Gave me skeevies. An American Crime might be slightly better telling of the same story. The fact that it is based on a true story is the saddest thing of all.
36: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). Fan since I was 15.
October 13:
37: The People Under The Stairs. (1991) Kind of a mess. Weak effort.
38: Shocker (1989)
☼. Ok, this was the stupidest film I've seen yet for this challenge.
39: Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972). Not nearly as bad as everyone says. Not that it is good, but it is on par with the rest of the series.
October 14:
40: The Cyclops (1957)
☼. Cheesy Bert Gordon giant man stuff.
41: Albert Fish:In Sin he Found Salvation. (2007). Cheesy doc on Fish. One guy is creepily giddy when he described how he got the original Grace Budd letter from the police dept.
42: Bloody Pit of Horror (1965)
☼. Visually interesting, but ultimately boring.
43: Black Sabbath (1963)
☼High Def. American version. Not too bad. I have the Italian one, but I've never watched it.
44: Frankenstein:The True Story (1973)
☼ (Saw it as a kid over 30 years ago). Great epic, almost Hammer-esque telling of the Frankenstein story.
October 15:
45: Zombieland (2009)
☼. Great flick. Lotta fun.
October 16:
46: The Howling II. (1985)
☼. P.O.S.
October 17:
47: Poultrygeist. (2006)
☼. I've seen this on a lot of lists so I thought I'd check it out. Christ, who the hell is the audience for this crap? I never thought Terror Firmer could be topped. Troma is entertaining in concept, but execution is sorely lacking.
48: Dawn of the Dead (1978)

Classic.
49: I Am Legend. (2007)
High Def Less than classic. Terrible third act, but the first two aren't bad.
October 18:
50: Halloween (1978)

. Can't recommend the Blu-ray enough. You can even see the mask when he's drving around.
51: Halloween II (1981). Blah sequel that should have never been made.
52: Let The Right One In. (2008)

. Masterpiece.
53: Halloween IV (1988)
☼. Michael Myers is the dullest villain ever.
October 19:
54: Halloween V (1989)
☼ Ditto.
55: Halloween 666 The Producers Cut (1995)
☼ Ditto ditto.
56: Halloween H20 (1998)
☼. Wow, what a dull flick. Jamie cashing in on her last viable years as a lead.
October 20:
57: A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Always had an affection for the first one. It's the only one that gets the dream logic right.
58: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985). Sucked.
59: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987). The beginning of the end. Surreal and jokey. Fun for the kids, I suppose.
October 21:
60: A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) More of the same.
61: A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989) Make it stop.
62: The Tingler (1959) (in
High Def, yay TCM-HD!). My first flick on the new Turner Classic Movies HD.
63: Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
☼.I saw all the previous ones in the theater and never revisited them. I never got around to this one, though. As bad a franchise ever made, but they all had a certain tone. They moved to a surreal humor, more often lame than not. This one however sinks below all the others. Whoever made this one completely misunderstood the films and made a cartoon. Ugh.
64: 13 Ghosts (1960)
High Def (TCM-HD). Leave it to Beaver...with ghosts.
65: Sleepy Hollow (1999). flawed, but still a great film.
October 22:
66: The Believers (1987)
☼ High Def. I saw Andrew Zimmern do this exact show on Bizarre World last week, but better.
October 24: Horror Marathon
67: American Werewolf in London.(1981)

. Classic zooms by.
68: Baby Blues (2008)
☼. Wow, Biggest surprise of the challenge.
No number: Paranormal Activity (2007 version)
69-72: (Wild Cards 2-5) Various trailers, shorts, etc. compiled for Horrorthon.
October 25:
73: Black Devil Doll (2009)
☼. P.O.S., but nice to have seen it after two years of hype. If you've seen the trailer, you've seen the film.
74: Wes Craven's New Nightmare. (1994). Interesting but ultimately failing new take on Freddy. More to be admired than enjoyed.
October 26:
75: Audrey Rose (1977). Hadn't seen this since I was a kid, maybe 30+ years ago. Doesn't really hold up.
October 27:
76: Doctor X (1932)
☼. Two Color Process technicolor. Not very good, but I have a huge crush on Fay Wray, so she's worth watching.
October 28:
77: The Severed Arm (1973)
☼. Cheap and tawdry but great premise. Joe Bob says check it out.
78: Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell (1974). Uncut version. Wow. Great conclusion to the saga.
79: Poltergeist (1982)
High Def. Over-the-top ghost story from Steven Speil...I mean Tobe Hooper.
80: It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (wildcard 6)
October 30:
81: 2000 Maniacs (1964). HG's most watchable film. Watched it again with Commentary. HG Lewis, Dave Friedman (my hero), Mike Vraney. Greatest commentary ever.
82: Zombie 2(1979). Slow, moody zombie masterpiece.
83: Freddy vs Jason (2003). Two, two, two shitty franchises in one.
84: Trick 'r Treat (2009)
☼. Nice flick. Kind of odd QT-esque timeline but still kind of neat.
85: It's Alive (2008)
☼. Grace, but more stupid.
86: X The Man With the X-Ray Eyes (1963). Classic.
October 31:
87: The Devils (1971). Uncut. Devastating deconstruction of the inquisition and the Church. A Masterpiece.
88: Bad Biology (2008). I like this film and the actress. I think the third act is kind of a mess, but it's great to see Frank Henonlotter working again.
89: Phantom of the Opera (1925). Surprisingly watchable.
90: Rosemary's Baby (1967). One of my favorite films of all time. A masterpiece.
91: Elvira's Movie Macabre: The Devil's Wedding Night (1973)
☼. Fun seeing an old Movie Macabre. Movie sucked, but Elvira reminded me why I liked her.
92: Suspiria (1977)

. Ordered the Italian Blu-ray, ripped to the old hard drive, muxed it to the laserdisc audio PCM and enjoyed Suspiria cranked as loud as my ears could stand it in 1080p. Greatest Horror Movie Ever.
93: Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby (1976)
☼. Retarded TV Sequel to a masterpiece. Why did they bother?
94: Near Dark (1987)
High def. Great vampire flick with Jenny Wright.
95: Spider Baby (1968). Favorite film of all-time. 'Nuff said.
96: The Lost Boys (1987). Why are teen vampires always douchebags in these movies?
97: Bride of The Monster (1955). Ed Wood's best film. Bela is great.
