Very good news from Future Shop regarding SteelBook

Wow very good news!!! I need tissue please...

Hi all, I just ran into the steel book thread , wow, thanks for the interest!

Here is the deal;

YES...more are coming, alot more.

BUT...they will be Blu Ray Only (sorry DVD folks)

They are VERY expensive to have made (they come from Europe!!) and I only get so much cash from the vendor to balance the cost back down so YOU dont have to pay more (or only a little bit more).

Often I can leverage a run from a big retailer in the states but they have been backing off these this year so Watchmen was the first big one I was able to do this year (We were very excited about the art on that one...thanks Warner!)

We have the following happening,
  • Disney...look for a big Disney program that involves some of the older classics and the new ones (UP, Wall E, Snow White and many more)
  • Almost all the big ones and some medium ones will have steel books , Star Trek, Terminator, Harry P, Inglorious Basterds, Public Enemies, Angels Demons...and maybe Hangover

We do our best to get cool unused art on the outside AND inside so we hope you enjoy this batch.

cheers Ian

What are the odds they'll be able to continue the James Bond Steelbooks, including the last two titles (Man with the Golden Gun & Licence to Kill) that didn't get any?

Yea, I gave up on steelbooks.

Between the lack of US delivery resulting in $50 titles and the screwing we got buying the Bonds ....

Pass. After MGM burned me I really don't want anything to do with them anymore. Why spend money on (example) POTC 1 and 2 for 3 never to come out? I *might* be tempted by a few of my favorite films but likely will just stick with Slip cover versions.

Re: Very good news from Future Shop regarding SteelBook

I have to agree, after the Bond incident, I'm inclined not to buy steelbooks for ongoing collections (like Disney animated for instance).

If it is a standalone movie I really like maybe. Then again I'm in the US so Future Shop carrying them does nothing for me anyway =\

I really can't for the life of me understand why Future Shop wouldn't want to ship to the US. Best Buy bought them out right?

It's probably some weird contractual thing where Best Buy retains exclusive rights to the U.S. market for themselves and Futureshop gets Canada.

That's all fine and good. But if that is the case, then Best Buy should at least get most of the steelbooks Futureshop gets.

Re: Very good news from Future Shop regarding SteelBook

Making more steelbooks that can't be easily imported by non-Canadian consumers isn't good news.

Re: Very good news from Future Shop regarding SteelBook

i would say this is only good news for someone who buys 30 steelbooks then jacks up the price for those of us living in the USA, making himself a huge profit and thus keeping one for himself/herself for free.

Sorry but I don't believe for one second that Future Shop has these steelbooks "...come from Europe".

Re: Very good news from Future Shop regarding SteelBook

Considering the company that owns the steelbook trademark is based in Europe, and supposedly only has manufacturing plants in Europe, that's not far fetched.

This is meaningless news for those of us who live outside of Canada, or too far away to pop in.
