"Near Dark" double-Dip ---> July 7

DVD Active is reporting that the film will be re-released on SD only on July 7th with an MSRP of $14.xx and "as far as we know, no extra material"...

All I have to say is seriously? There is an amazing 2-disc set already available and yet they are releasing this bare-bones, not on blu-ray, with a trailer that makes it look like "Twilight 2"...

It's a crime to re-release this without a BD format. Much better film than Twilight.

Not only similar marketing to Twilight, but also directed by a woman as well - Katherine Bigelow...

I was underwhelmed by this movie. I'll give it another chance when Anchor Bay stops dicking around and puts it out on BD, if it has all the bonus features.

At least the new art keeps what is, in my opinion, one of the best taglines ever.

Than why visit the thread? I'm sorry, but I don't understand why you would comment in a thread twice about a film you have no interest in ever seeing (even after people tell you how good it is).

It's pretty smart advertising. Hopefully all the teen girls will buy it and it will scare the shit out of them. They'll then be turned off "vampire" movies and the new Twilight will bomb. Luckily I already own the 2-disc.

Seems this is being released by Lionsgate this time...maybe they'll get it on BD, too.

Anchor Bay lost the rights, but the discs are still cheap and easy to find.

Yep, horrendous cover doesn't even convey the film's mood in any way. I hope this gets a BD release eventually. One of the great underrated vampire flicks of all-time.
