Star Trek games?

Are there any decent Star Trek games on the horizon with the new movie coming out?

I would love to have something good. Maybe something set in the ST verse done like Knights of the Old Republic. Or even better, give me a new iteration of Star Trek: Away Team which was an awesome overhead almost puzzle game.

So, any good news or am i cursed to crappy Star Trek games like Giantrobo is cursed to crappy DC titles?

Re: Star Trek games?

There are 2 coming out that I know. There's an XBLA title coming out this week. Star Trek: DAC (800 pts/$10)

Hands-on here:

In the distant future is Star Trek Online which is a MMORPG being done by the same company that did Company of Heroes. Their site is:

Re: Star Trek games?

The only Star Trek video game I ever played that I genuinely enjoyed was the 25th Anniversary; NES and Gameboy versions. I kind of enjoyed the TNG and DS9 SNES games. Largely, though, they're too devoted to starship control and Sim-type roleplaying. What I want is LEGO Star Trek!

The PC version of 25th Anniversary was so much better—the CD-ROM has full voice acting by the original actors. Same with Judgment Rites.

Hmm. Maybe I'll look into tracking down the PC version.

Re: Star Trek games?

There was a Star Trek game I played on my Mac years ago. It was a TOS game and it was point and click. You could fight other ships in space or go on away missions to various planets. Does anyone remember which game this was?

Was it either 25th Anniversary or Judgement Rights?

I loved the Next Generation game on the old Game Boy, but I can't remember the name of it now.

I think they could skip Star Trek: The Motion Picture. But I would love to play one based on The Wrath of Khan/The Search for Spock/The Voyage Home.

Re: Star Trek games?

Whichever game is picture by lordwow a few posts above is the only one I played. All I remember is trying to play through it as my computer struggled to play it. Took 5 minutes for photon torpedoes to reach my ship

Re: Star Trek games?

That's 25th Anniversary, Judgment Rights was basically the same game with different "episodes"

My favorite part of that game was taking down the fake-Reliant's shields the same way Kirk did in TWOK

Re: Star Trek games?

One of my favorites goes back aways on the pc and it was "Star Trek - Elite Force". It was a FPS game involving the Borg but the con with it was the storyline and small sandbox play.
If one wanted a true spce flight sim and epic battles they need to only look at a older pc game called "Freespace 2 from Interplay. Hands down one of the best ever space battle sims out there. If some firm could make a Star Trek game like that they would be flying off the shelves.

Re: Star Trek games?

There was going to be a third Interplay adventure game in the series called Secret of Vulcan Fury, but it was canceled after all the voice work from the original cast was completed.

It was in 3D—looked pretty advanced for the time.

Re: Star Trek games?

I still say Star Trek: Legacy was a decent game but very frustrating until you learn how to manage all your ships. It's one of those games that gives "too much" control so you're constantly switching back and forth to keep ships alive. But it's still fun in some ways. It had voice work from -all- the TV Captains, and covered all eras of the Trek Universe.

Most people consider that the "trilogy", and that would be solid especially good if that was the basis for a Lego game, and then the next lego game could be the TNG series, and then again you could combine them for the double dip ala Star Wars.

That was the one. It was pretty good, from what I recall.

BTW, the iPhone Star Trek game is a lot of fun. And it seems to have decent replay value. I'm enjoying it.

Re: Star Trek games?

good topic...I played this old one for Mac about 13 years ago where you could travel both in and out of the space ship...can't remember the exact name of it, but it had an EXTREMELY thick guide/book to get through it (was very difficult).

I liked Legacy for what it was, a fun little space fighting diversion. I heard a lot of comments about the difficulty, but I thought it was pretty easy.
