Official - ANIME Bargains! - Thread [updated daily...or close to it] - May '09
WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL ANIME BARGAINS THREAD
Below are the ANIME (as well as the occassional anime-related stuff like manga) deals for the month of MAY. Please post your deals here as all new deals will be reposted to the first post of this thread on a daily (or close to it) basis.
A new thread will be started each month as to keep the number of posts managable and the deals current. This thread is a work-in-progress, so feel free to message/e-mail me with any suggestions on how it can be improved upon. And maybe if there is enough interest and participation, we'll actually get a sub-forum of our own.

Hey guys,
My Fiance' recently informed me that she regretted her decision to get rid of our Princess Nine discs, and now she wants them again. Problem is, I can't find the discs or the complete collection anywhere.
Has anyone seen these recently? Thanks!

It looks like that between Amazon Marketplace and eBay, you can pick up a legit new copy of each volume for an average of less than $10.

I agree with this. If used is okay, eBay is probably the best bet. I picked up my used Princess Nine singles for $26 including shipping. The cases were a bit worn (I replaced them with M-locks), but the DVDs and cover inserts were pristine. Someone lucked out not too long ago and won a set for ten bucks less (also including s&h).

I have a question to the Vandread DVD Box sets...
One is Thinpak, the other one is the big box right? Any more differences? Perhaps anamorphic transfer?
Rightstuf also changed the price for the Ikki Tousen DVD Box Set to 25$

If you have the original 8-disc set, it is worthwhile since the director's cuts add information to episodes 21-24. If you have either the 7-disc or 6-disc "Platinum" release, there's no need since the director's cuts are already included.

If you want the extras, stick with the Geneon release. You just to figure out if you want more artwork release (also take up more space) or space saving alphcase. As for the FUNi release, I haven't seeing any reviews/indications that anything is improved (of which is unlikely anyways at this pricing).

Rightstuf just restocked the sold out Eureka Seven DVDs (100 items each) but DVD 2 is still sold out...perhaps they will restock it later...
And i have a question to the listed Rozen Maiden: Traumend DVD Box Set from GENEON...
Funimation did the packing stuff right? So thinpak cases and a flimsy artbox? Its pretty bad that there wasnt an artbox for the Rozen Maiden Traumend DVDs from GENEON

For Vandread, we used the DVD masters provided by Geneon, so no post-production work was done on our end. We have normal subtitles on this release, but anything painted onto the video was inherent in the source materials we received.

There was an artbox for Rozen Maiden: Träumend. It was an artbox that housed the first season and Träumend. It was a very well made velveteen artbox.

Technically FUNimation is handling the distribution. However most of the recent boxsets include thinpaks with flimsy paper artbox. The disc counts though (so far) are retained from the original releases.

Too crap that i couldnt buy the old GENEON release of Rozen Maiden in the past (i didnt know TRSi and i found it too late...nobody told me about this awesome onlineshop in the USA)
I think i will go with the Funi release (i dont like dvds without boxes)
But all in all i have to thank Funimation cause they are re-releasing the animes with GENEON's help...not like CCS that never had a re-release
