Sounds good. I'll have to pick these up on release day. I sort of wish that Paramount would just release the blu-ray versions of parts IV-VI on the same day as the dvd versions though. I'd really like to own The Final Chapter and Jason Lives as they're two of my favorite installments in the series.

I take it the remake will be released this day as well.

Great news, although it looks like they won't be including the 3D version after all. Good thing I picked it up when it came out. I'll buy the BD for the marginal picture improvement and supplements.

I can't help but wonder if I should hold out for an eventual box-set...

Another vote for holding off purchase until the inevitable box set, but I'll certainly Netflix these.

Hmmm... that's odd. Hi-Def Digest is reporting it won't include the 3-D version. It matters little since I'm buying it either way.

Will these be cleaned up on par with the first one? I think that the first one looks really nice despite the bit of cropping they had because of the source.

Both should be identical to the UK Bu-ray versions which I felt were a notch better over Part I.

Re: Friday the 13th Part II and III ----> 6/16/09

I was quite disapointed when i saw that Highdef digest was saying that it was not being released with the 3D version included(espcially since it has the terror in 3D featurett) so i hope this cover art is proof we will actually be getting the 3D version with the bluray.
otherwise this will be on of the few times since paramount has gone back to blu that they have really dropped the ball. how can you go and give the standard def dvd the 3D version then go and not give it to us on bluray.

They won't be completely identical.

Please explain. If there is no 3D than the Special Features + Audio mean that the US versions are identical to the UK for Part II and Part III.

Re: Friday the 13th Part II and III ----> 6/16/09

The cover art for III has 3-D in huge print. I think the anaglyphic conversion will be included. However, for those who haven't yet seen it, it is pretty poor, misaligned to hell and doesn't remotely resemble the original polarized 3-D version.

Paramount should re-do the conversion or let someone who knows what they are doing take a crack at it. Even for the poor anaglyph format, the version on DVD is way below par.

The cover art is officially from Paramount - no doubt about it. However the 3D on DVD looked really bad and they may have changed their plans to release 3D on Blu-ray (even though cover art was done - it can change at any moment). Last I heard a 3D version was being planned but would not be out until next year (boxset exclusive - hint hint). Some sites are reporting it being 3D (because of the obvious cover art) while others are claiming its not (HDD). I really don't know what to make about it at this point. I know some people really want this film in 3D but I can't stand wearing cardboard glasses for 90 minutes for some cheap scares.

I heard they were redoing the coversion with the original polarized 3D version. This is a disappointment that it's certainly probably not that version.

Paramount could just toss the 3D glasses and the 3D DVD encode on the disc as well (maybe upconvert it?)

What a clusterf*ck!

The DVD was in 3-D, the BD cover says 3-D, but the BD movie will not be in 3-D?

Paramount really have their heads up their asses. At least include the 3-D version that was on the DVD. It may not be great, but at least it's something until they produce that new 3-D version.

I've said this in another topic, but this has been a complete nightmare for Friday completists.

The Digital Bits is confirming it will contain the 3-D version.

Also, the extras can't be identical to the UK versions.

In the UK, Friday the 13th didn't have the first Tales from Camp Blood. They put Part 1 on Part 2's Blu-Ray. And then stuck Part 2 and 3 on Part 3's Blu-Ray. Also, the Fridays Legacy: Horror Conventions wasn't in HD.

Also, the UK release of Friday the 13th Part 3 didn't have the 3-D version on DVD in the UK.

TDB also said I'd be watching Braveheart in my Blu-ray player already and that has not happened (among other things). At this point it might still be in the air with what Paramount is actually doing but from everything I've heard they were not doing 3D because of the poor response the DVD had (instead re-doing it for a later release). The Red/Blue looked horrific on DVD and its something I wouldn't want to watch for more than 15 minutes. Curious if this is going to be a HD encode or if they simply toss the DVD encode on the disc.

By buying Part II and Part III in the US you are getting the exact same special features from the UK Versions. The only thing that is different is the swapping of "Lost Tales" because F13 Part I was not available in the UK (still the same features though just on different discs - so really the UK versions have "more" features).

Friday Legacy: Horror Conventions is HD (1080/24p - average 25Mbps on my Sony 550).

That's the problem. Paramount released the specs calling it Part III (not 3D) and make no mention of the film being 3D until you see the cover art.

Re: Friday the 13th Part II and III ----> 6/16/09

Peter bracke over on HDD is saying that paramount relayed to him that they were not including the 3d version on the bluray, due to the overwhelming negative response to the 3D on the standard dvd, and that for the time being they were going to just do the straight 2D version, until such time as they can produce a better 3D encode for homevideo.
Even though i dont think very highly of him as a person,or as a reviewer,When it comes to all things related to friday the 13th you will be hard pressed to find someone more in the know than him, the guy wrote the definitive friday the 13th book, and there was even a character named after him in the friday the 13th remake.

so if peter is saying this is what paramount told him, then its a pretty good bet that we wont be getting 3D this time. which is ashame as i was really looking forward to having this in 3D. it sounds like they want to get the 3D right first before putting it on bluray.

Re: Friday the 13th Part II and III ----> 6/16/09

I'll just wait until my library can get the 3-D DVD and borrow it from them.

Don't you need a certain TV to watch the 3-D version that Paramount is working on for next year? I won't be upgrading my television for QUITE a while so I wouldn't be able to take advantage of it anyway. As crappy as the red/blue version was, at least I was SOMETHING.

I've spent way too much money on this franchise and I'm not spending anymore until Paramount gets their act together.
