Those are some pretty big numbers for Notorious although considering the type of film it is I would bet its gonna be pretty front-loaded.
And I cant even talk about Paul Blartt: Mall Cop. The success of this garbage is wholly depressing and makes me want to move to another country.

eh it's the middle of January not really a good time for quality movies to reign the box office. Wasn't like Meet the Spartans #1 around this time last year?

I plan on checking out Gran Torino a little later today and Double Feature My Bloody Valentine (non-3D) and The Unborn next week. Gran Torino will be my first movie this year snd I can already guess it's better than the last movie I seen lasy year (The Spirit)

Week after week, month after month, I click in this thread expecting thisthis week to be the one where the latest shitfest from Hollywood isn't #1. I'm usually disappointed
Also disappointed to see The Wrestler not crack the Top 10, because it opened wider this week.

Paul Blart #1? Who goes to see this crap? Looks like a straight to video release in the unfunny previews.

Ebert gave it three stars

My Bloody Valentine was kind of lame. I had a feeling it wouldn't be number 1 but I thought Notorious would be.

Have to admit I didn't think Mall Cop would do any kind of business. Seem to be big numbers for January, nice.

Paul Blartt is PG though so I guess it has that helping it. It'd be like a nightmare for me though. an 87 minite long PG-rated nightmare. Even though I have no interest in Notorious and My Bloody Valentine its not a bad thing to see R-rated films doing very well this month. Gran Torino is also still doing very nicely as well.

Why wouldn't I believe? What did you expect to beat it? I've seen countless ads for Paul Blart and I don't even watch tv.
