the Robin Barney stuff was great.

I didn't really like the ending though, with Barney totally disavowing his feelings for Robin (although we did see his meaningful glance as he watched her on TV). I thought that it cheapened the whole episode. I figured that they were just going to do a retread of the Ted pining after Robin storyline, except with Barney this time, so maybe it is a good thing that they mightn't go down that path.

So Stella has an invisible daughter I guess. She seems to have no problem finding time to watch Star Wars all of a sudden when last season she was too busy between work and child rearing to date. Sloppy writing. I'm growing very weary of this show I may actually drop it if they don't start moving things forward to how he met their mother...
She could have been using the "there's no time to date" line as an excuse to avoid dating back then. Also, she could have arranged for a sitter for the entire evening they suddenly decided to watch Star Wars.
Alternatively put, quit overthinking things.

Guess I'm in the minority that absolutely loved it. But then again I'm a die-hard Star Wars fan so that my have something to do with it.
Too many complaints for a first episode IMO. The watching Star Wars bit is what, 2 hours out of what I guess was a few days in the timeline of the episode? How hard is it to believe she has that time to spare away from the daughter? They practically just got engaged, so I think referring back to her complain from the previous season is just reaching. Of course they're going to be spending more time together. I don't care if I never see Stella's daughter. The show's not titled "How I Met Stella's Daughter" after all.

Robin saying that she would motorboat the woman in the bar herself left me in sudden need to visit my bunk.
Marshall's "Whatcha doing?" cracked me up every time. Similar to last season when his only line in one episode seemed to be "Don't kill the bar, dude."

People actually care who the mother is? Wow.
And just because she said she was too busy to go out, doesn't mean she actually was.

As you all know, I recently overcame a traumatic and life threatening experience. While I appreciate the “get well” cards, muffin baskets and boob-o-grams you’ve been so kind to send, many of you are under the impression that the 83 major and minor bone fractures (heh) were the most serious injuries I suffered. False. All the time I was fighting a far more insidious and debilitating condition. Feelings.
During my courageous battle against Feelings I discovered, in shock, that the medical establishment has done very little research on this crippling affliction. In fact some physicians even went so far as to claim Feelings aren’t even a life-threatening disease! Luckily for you my PhD in Awesomeness has qualified me to assemble this informative medical pamphlet for any of you who fear you may have contracted Feelings.
Keep fighting, America.

Some funny moments but expected a little more being the season premiere. I wonder if the writers are going to "couple" Robin and Barney by season's end.
