I have in my "basket" at amazon.uk a few exploitation films that don't have R1 releases:

- Faster Pussycat Kill Kill
- She Shoots Straight
- Twisted Nerve

I'm waiting to find one or two more worthy purchases before I hit checkout.

Yeah, didn't even know this was on dvd until I saw your review. In Z Channel, F.X. mentions how The Most Important Thing was so beloved by French filmmakers in the 70s that they quoted /paid homage to it in their own films.Do you happen to know which specific titles he was referring to? Anyway, my only beef with the dvd is that I ordered the 'limited edition' version, which was four bucks more, assuming I'd be getting an interesting looking edition. Instead, the film is housed in an ugly, oversized plastic clamshell box that makes it look like an early 80s VHS release! Very lame. Was excited to see Xploited carried Blast of Silence, complete with director commentary. I remember being intrigued by this one years ago when it was discussed in Re/Search's Incredibly Strange Films guide, the first book to turn me on to fringe/cult cinema, when I was just an impressionable youngster. About to check it out now.

I have not seen the bit your refer to but I know for a fact that Serge Gainsbourg was very much influenced by Zulawski's work. His Je t'aime moi non plus is the obvious title that comes to mind.

Just ordered it, thanks. For anyone else who's interested, Je t'aime moi non plus is only £7.64 plus shipping from Amazon UK right now.

Faster Pussycat has an R1 release, it just isn't as good as the UK version and costs 3 times as much.

Yeah, that's why I opted for the R2 version.

Anyways, I just put in my final order (I went a little nuts...)

- Nosferatu (Masters of Cinema)
- The Last Laugh (MoC)
- Silence (MoC)
- Tell No One
- Twisted Nerve
- She Shoots Straight
- Faster Pussycat

Even with the horrible exchange-rate these days, it all averaged out to less than $19 a peace - not bad for British imports...

In all Innocence (the only quality English-friendly release and a direct port of the French disc). Very cheap but solid transfer:

Wow! Are you managing to see the majority of those or just building a big backlog? That's not a criticism as I have an insanely large backlog myself, I'm just curious.

That's a whole lot of Saw. I see you're a horror aficionado; do you consider that franchise to be the best thing going presently in horror?

for the record Trigger - I thought Re-Cycle was a terrible movie - one of the worst blind buys IMO - I would have given you this no cost.

I thought the best part about Re-Cycle was the packaging. I thought it was merely okay... nothing I'd recommend though.

200 Pound Beauty was easily the worst thing I bought...
