Requiem for a dream. Julia Roberts stole the oscar from Ellen Burstyn that year.

Memento was my favorite, followed by Gladiator. I wasn't a fan of Traffic at all.

I went with Requiem For A Dream (#5 on my all-time list), with Memento (#7) coming in second. I remember in 2000, I felt Requiem For A Dream was the best of the year, with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon almost unseating it after the first viewing, mainly cuz it's not as depressing. Time has shown me I was way off. I haven't seen it since I saw it in theatres, so who knows? I keep meaning to watch it again, but always get sidetracked.

And, if it were the Untitled Bootleg cut of Almost Famous that might give them all a run for their money. Damn near brilliant, that version.

Mods - is it too late to change the poll to public? I didn't mean to make it private.

I forgot how many really great films came out that year. I love arronofsky and nolan, but, for me, In the Mood for love was something very special and is one of my favorites of all time.

Requiem For A Dream

I still can't believe Julia Roberts beat out Ellen Burstyn. I realize it's the academy and all, but Burstyn was so obviously superior as to be embarrassing.

One of the all-time great performances.

I went with Memento. Requiem for a Dream is really high up there on my list but I can't really bring myself to watch it that much just because of how much of a downer it is. Gladiator is a 3rd runner up.

Even though I can probably never bring myself to watch it again, I'm going with Requiem. Raw, powerful stuff.
