Thanks blackjackmark. Was about to order it from amazon for $104.95, but went with WB for $90.07 shipped with tax. Since I've already seen the movies, I'm in no hurry.

You got shipping already? When did you place your order? Made mine in early November.

Mine is actually scheduled to be delivered tomorrow 12/10. I ordered mine on 10/14, so its been awhile. Well, its good for me, I am excited to see what this gift set is really going to look like. I hope its not a cheap box that this set comes in, it looks pretty cool from all the pictures.

I got a msg indicating mine was backordered. I placed my order just after Thanksgiving, so it will be Christmas in July for me too. . .

Mine shipped today, so I'd expect to get it tomorrow. Ordered back in September. Crossing fingers, that's for sure.

Interesting, I ordered at about the same time that you appearently did (10/16 in my case) and got the dreaded "this item is backordred" e-mail that others have gotten. I'm still waiting for my BD HD copy of 2001 to appear after ordering it when it was first available on the WB site.

I love how daffy the WB system is.

I got a Backorder notice for the Last Samurai a while back, it arrived the next day, and I got a shipping notice 2 weeks after that.

Having physically held three copies, it's not a cheap looking box--real metal locks and hinges, and some nice crap inside.

Of course, maybe you open it and it falls apart and everything inside is tiny, paper or cardboard, but it doesn't look like it.

$78.14 + tax at fye.com for their backstage members after $15 rebate ($88.49 for non-members), plus you get a free Harry Potter lithograph...
Must use coupon WELCOMECCTEN or WELCOMEMPTEN to save 10%...

I'm just having a hard time justifying dropping that much coin on a set when you know 6 & 7 are still coming. I think I'll just stick to the single BD for now.

...In the next 4 years. Do you not buy any TV show on DVD since the complete set is eventually going to come out? Both sequels have plenty of room to fit in the boxset BTW.

I'm not a regular purchaser of TV sets anyway, but I do own Star Trek TNG 1-7, Simpsons 1-10, and Scrubs 1-6, each bought 1 at a time. I also have the Complete West Wing & Seinfeld. I wouldn't buy individual seasons or movies of any show or movie franchise no longer in production, but may buy current shows as a way of catching up. For example, I won't re-buy Lethal Weapon 1 & 2 in Hi-Def until they come out with a box set of all 4.

As I recall, the "Complete Series" issues of TV shows didn't start coming out until recently, so early on buying one at a time was the only option, until studios recognized what a cash cow they were sitting on with their old TV show catalogs.

Regarding Harry Potter, are you saying there's extra room in the metal case for 2 more movies? If that's the case, I'll get it now, because I haven't seen 5 & forgotten major elements of the others. With the writer's strke I can actuall catch up on my movie watching.

The studios are rapists. I'm sure by the time all 7 are made available they will have some Harry fold-out magic wand that mysteriously contains all seven movies inside thus causing a boatload of Ebay sellers trying to recoup at least part of what we spend on this 1-5 set.

Saw some pictures posted on another site showing all the cool goodies that come with this, so now the question is, do I get it in HD-DVD or BD? Any reviews comparing the two versions? I'm inclined to get BD just to show more support for that format, so eventually this damned format war can die.

I stopped when they started charging an extra $10 for the extras. Same boat, by the time 7 comes out I will get it then - and maybe the HQ DVD wars should be settled. (I hope)
