Black Narcissus
Ben-Hur
Fanny & Alexander
The New World
The Scent of Green Papaya
A.I.
Babe / Pig In the City
Alien
Chungking Express (Happy Together is my favorite, but Chungking would probably benefit more)
Drunken Master 2 (hell, make it the first release to be uncut, subtitled and in the proper ratio)

Good choice with Chungking Express, it's a great movie and the current R1 DVD is below par.

The R3 remasters of Wong's films, at least the ones that are available so far, are absolutely gorgeous (Chungking is among them)... I can only imagine how good they'd all look in high-def!

Yes, that one would be nice. It still hadn't had a proper release on SD DVD last I checked.

Not necessarily in that order, of course. I'm at the point where I'm in it for the replay value and not so much the fancy explosions, so it's all about the favorites, and things like Grand Prix and Casablanca have shown that a title doesn't have to be an action thrill-ride from the past 5 years to still look amazing.

Get the R3 Chungking Express/Fallen Angels combo. It's about $32 on xploitedcinema. Great picture quality over the R1.

Lol! Oops. I feel dumb. Shit like this happens when you win a PS3 and just get into HD. I was planning on picking up an HD player in the next few weeks. I didn't realize what I was missing just watching upconverted DVD. First 3 HD-DVD's I will buy will be The Thing, F&LILV, and D&C. Had no clue those two were already available.

With there being :

Dazed and Confused Criterion
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Criterion

You'd think they'd pull all the stops on these features right out of the gate.

But I guess they are taking the Anchor Bay/Starz approach:

multiple releases + newly remastered HD additions = $

God help us when these titles are avaliable - I already have a ton of money invested! lol

...

Just kidding about that last one.

1. Hard Eight - Paul Thomas Anderson at his best!!

2. Psycho - Hitchcock version, you've got it Universal - Make it happen!

3. Night of the Living Dead - Russo Cut & Romero Cut with Millenium dvd features including Night of the Living Bread and etc.

4. Gangs of New York - Come on! Who doesnt love Bill the Butcher?

5. Return of the Living Dead - Punk Rock and people who get the threat of lossing their job during a zombie invasion. sounds like a good weekend to me!

6. HellRaiser - Oh you know why; just make sure we see all the levels/grades of black in this feature. Throw in the suppliments from the R2 cube discs and we're golden!

7. Demons & Demons 2 - They made this a double feature sold back in early 2000 - They re-released them this past week in WS with a remastered track. Some dubbed commentary, promo material, convention videos, etc. and this would be a must have!

8. American History X - I would like to see a retrospective about this film added with information concerning hate crimes/gangs and the research that the crew did for this feature.

9. Pulp Fiction - Ving Rhames getting butt-hole pleasures in HD - Priceless!

10. Blue Velvet - Talk about awesome amounts of color! ( I just hope Lynch doesnt mute down his audio/music. I can only imagine hearing a brilliantly paced music with Dennis Hopper trying to yell over top of it. Gives me goosebumps

Also great mentions from above and a few extra:

Brick - If you havent seen this film you should (film noir meets 90210)
Naked Lunch - Cronenberg in general ( Scanners, Videodrome, DeadRingers, Crash, eXistenZ, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises)
Hitchcock, Alfred EVERYTHING - ' 'Nuff said' -Stan Lee
Rounders - Ed Norton performance flawless
Fight Club - This would have been my #1 Choice, but everyone and their momma's got it their.
Boogie Nights - I personally love all P.T Anderson films including Punch-Drunk,Love
Taxi Driver - Scorsese stuff should already be out!!! lol
City of God - Imagine the colors transfer in HD, and I thought Blood Diamonds almost made me wear sunglasses!
Seven Samurai - Gotta love Kurasawa

8) X-Men Trilogy
9) Before Sunrise/Before Sunset
10) Star Wars original trilogy

in no particular order:

Vertigo
my favorite hitchcock with haunting visuals that would be breathtaking in hi-def

X2: X-men United
as good as the DVD looks scaled to 1080p by my projector, a proper hi-def release would be unbelievable for the best of the X-men movies

Ran
since it's composed almost entirely of medium and long shots, this beautifully-shot film is a prime candidate for the added detail that hi-def can provide

Heat
four words: street shootout - lossless audio

Lord of the Rings Trilogy
for obvious reasons, probably the modern films i desire most in hi-def

The City of Lost Children
the strong and captivating visuals would be a dream in hi-def

The Talented Mr. Ripley
an underrated movie with hi-def worthy european settings

Miramax is owned by Disney so it would be Blu-ray. But overseas releases on HD DVD are a distinct possibility for Miramax titles, and HD DVD is region free.

Jaws
Jurassic Park

Magnolia
Monsters, Inc.
Fight Club
Moulin Rouge
Kill Bill
Gremlins
Walk The Line

I'd add Braveheart to that list if there weren't rumblings already...

"Terminator 2" is available as a Blu-Ray release here in the states, as well as an HD-DVD release from the UK.
