It's a shame Stardust didn't do more, hopefully it'll have some great legs.

some of the Stardust reviews I read weren't that flattering. So now I'm guessing we'll have Rush Hour 4 in 2012.

So, I'm guessing RH3 will make $52m and BU will have a decent 53-55% drop, which isn't bad all things considered.

17 SKINWALKERS After Dark Films 737 $175,000 -- / $237 $175,000 / 1

After Dark Films really can't grasp the concept that some movies belong straight-to-video (Captivity, Horrorfest flicks, and the horrendous Skinwalkers).

I think Bourne will have a high 40s% drop when all is said and done.

RH3 is doing about what I expected it to do. I really hope they don't do a part 4, although I'm sure Chris Tucker is wishing for it so he doesn't have to work for another 4 years.

Skinwalkers? Big surprise. I wonder how long AD can last tossing money in the shitter by giving these crap horror flicks a theatrical release?

Why is it that every movie I love bombs at the box office?
Stardust, Perfume, Grindhouse, Zodiac, etc...
All these shitty inferior films like Harry Potter, Transformers, Shrek, etc...
It's just not fair I tell ya!

I hope Stardust has legs. I saw it yesterday and the whole audience (including myself) loved it! Everyone was laughing and cheering at the appropriate moments and there was even some applause at the end. Probably my favorite movie of the summer.

Do you honestly have to ask? There's niche and theres mainstream.

I don't personally think Potter is inferior as just not to your taste (the filmmaking is quite good) but I tend to be upset that niche flicks don't do better as well.

Believe you me, no one gets more frustrated when I see shit making money. But did you actually believe "Perfume" could have had a chance at the box-office in the U.S.? I liked it, don't get me wrong. But it was nothing more than an expensive art house film. And you know how well those do in America

Well, Perfume did great in other countries and I found it to be one of the most consistently enjoyable films so i that didnt surprise me when it failed but it is still a shame to see that Americans wont seek out good movies.

Stardust looked like absolute crap. I will still give it a chance, but probably not in theatres. It looks like a terrible Gilliam movie, IMHO.

Tell me about it. Back to "Perfume" for a second. Personally, I thought it was just TOO European for Americans. Especially the ending. The theater I saw it in laughed. When everyone took their clothes off. Doubt they did that everywhere else

And to "The Bus". I agree with you. The trailers for "Stardust" are CRAP! I'm so glad I went instead of going with my gut feeling. Because it's really a special movie.

I loved "Perfume" too, and I think part of the problem in the U.S. is the lousy way Paramount distributed it. They gave it a NYC/LA release in time for awards consideration, but then didn't give it the promotional push it needed to actually get the awards. Then they put it in 280 theaters in early January, again without enough promotion to do it right. They were really half-assed about the whole thing, and it's no wonder nobody saw the movie.

Back to the topic at hand, I'm delighted by the lousy showing of "Skinwalkers." The AfterDark people really do need to learn a few things about the business, and this should be a good lesson. (I posted a review of the movie, but it doesn't seem to have gone live yet.)

From reviews I read, the ending was just as ridiculed in other countries, but alas, the book was also more popular in other countries.

I got talked into seeing Stardust, and I am so glad that I did. I thought it was just fantastic, which was a shock to me, because the trailer was god awful and I was fully expecting it to suck. I really can't blame anyone but the advertising department for that movie not doing as well as it should have.

Still liked Harry Potter more though.

Did "Hot Rod" just drop off the face of the planet? It wasn't even listed in the top 17 on Box Office Mojo. Maybe the studio just didn't report it's grosses for Friday?

Nothing is fair in buisness. Movies have to be made for mass consumption.

Doubtful. But it'll pass the $150 million mark this weekend and may have enough to get to $175 million. Either way, I'm sure Fox is thrilled, considering FF2 didn't do that great.

Transformers also became the 4th film to pass $300 million after Friday's earnings.

Stardust will most likely sell very well on DVD.

Anyways, Daddy Day Camp bombed pretty hard at the Box Office. It's a real shame that Cuba Gooding, Jr. doesn't star in some "quality" movies instead of garbage like this. He's such a damn good actor. No Reservations didn't do that great at the Box Office overall & I doubt the sales of the DVD will be that impressive either.

Rush Hour 3 only made $19,085,000 at the Box Office? I always thought the Rush Hour movies made alot more, or is this the "third one is bombing" situation. The Rush Hour movies speak TBS material in my opinion & thats about it.

Those were just the numbers for Friday. The final numbers aren't out yet.
