Bill and Ted redux

The Hollywood remake machine rolls on, crushing pedestrians and vehicles beneath its massive treads and raping childhoods along the way. Next stop: Bill and Ted.

According to LATimes , a direct-to-DVD "re-imagining" of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is on the way.

MGM is developing a straight-to-DVD revisiting of the late-'80s cult classic "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" for producer Frank Mancuso Jr. at 360 Pictures. Although their deal is still being worked out, writers Gabe Grifoni and Suzanne Francis ("Wieners") have already turned in an outline for an updated take on San Dimas' most excellent native sons.

Yuck, it seems hard to improve on this concept, especially if it is direct-to-DVD.

Part of the charm of the original is the language Bill & Ted use. That will be completely gone in this, since no one talks like that these days, which leaves you with just two unlikable morons.

No Alex Winter, no sale.

Good to see he's finding work. He's currently King Mole Man on Saul of the Mole Men.

I'd rather see a sequel with Keanu and Alex teaming up with their younger sons. Heck, both Keanu and Alex have said they would WANT to be in a sequel...so you'd think the studio would be into that.

I'm guessing with the impending writer's strike upcoming, we're going to be seeing A LOT of remakes in 2008.

I didn't even like the *ACTUAL* sequel, why would I want to see this movie "re-imagined"?

As long as they have a time travel machine phone booth. Two idiots. And a future full of extremely bad hair. I'm there.

Most heinous ............
Why does Hollywood insist on going where they shouldn't.
All they do is remake now.Doesn't ANYONE have any original ideas anymore?

So now only us will know of the great Bill and Ted while newer generations will see some fucked up copy cats that are nowhere near the originals.....lame!

Bogus Journey was by far a better film.

At least until they got to Hell. And then the third act derailed. (Although I did enjoy the ending.)

If Bill & Ted were to ever actually go to Hell, I imagine this direct to dvd sequel would be playing 24-7.

If you us are thinking what we us are thinking right now then you us and we us agree this is most unspectacular.

...Unless the recast of Mitzi is hella-hot.

It's not a sequel, it's a remake.

I can't WAIT to see how this will be marketed.

"From the writers that brought you 'Wieners'...They're Back!"

I remember renting this movie on VHS when it first became available and even back then I knew something was off with the movie.

The movie just wasn't as much fun as "Excellent" and the change in tone really killed the fun of the movie. I like that they tried to do something different, but the characters don't really fit in well with what they were doing in "Bogus".

That and there really was no need for a sequel to be made.
