Creature Comforts doesn't seem long for this world (or at least on CBS).

Movieman... I know it's a cable show, but is there any way we can get the numbers for The Sopranos finale?

Ratings: 'Sopranos' Finale OK, Whacks Tony Numbers
by Wayne Friedman, Tuesday, Jun 12, 2007 7:33 AM ET
"THE SOPRANOS" HAS GIVEN SUMMER TV something of a shot in the arm. Preliminary numbers for the series finale had "The Sopranos" 15% higher than last year's season finale--a 7.56 household rating. Last year's finale was at a 6.58 rating. The episode was some 43% higher than the episode of a week before.

That puts the last "Sopranos" story around 12 million viewers--which would be roughly at the same levels of the past few years, but perhaps not as high as HBO might have expected, given a beloved series finale.

In New York, Tony Soprano's hometown, the overnight local rating had the "Sopranos" at an 18 rating--more than double the 8.2 that CBS got in New York for the "Tony Awards" telecast.

HBO launched "John From Cincinnati" as a lead-out from the high-rated "Sopranos" ending. It pulled in a respectable--but not super-strong--2.81 household rating.

Only about one-third of all U.S. TV households get HBO. No matter. ABC's coverage of basketball's "NBA Finals" and CBS' "Tony Awards" suffered, in large part, because of the "The Sopranos."

"The 61st Annual Tony Awards" tumbled almost 20% versus a year ago to a 4.2 household rating, down 19% from a 5.2 last year. It was perhaps the worst-rated telecast ever. The show grabbed a 1.2 rating/3 share among adult 18-49 viewers, with about 6.3 million viewers overall.

ABC's "NBA Finals" game between the San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers averaged a ho-hum 3.1/8 in 18-49 viewers and 7.7 million viewers overall. That's down 41% from the 5.3/15 in 18-49 viewers and 12.4 million viewers for last year's Game 2 contest between Miami and Dallas.

I'm assuming HBO #'s are a bit skewed because of the multiple airings? I would guess plenty of people w/o DVRs regularly watch on Tuesday or whenever else the Sunday shows air again.

Yeah, you've got other airings, DVR and On Demand, so I assume it's higher than that...

Part 2, good a fresh start.
First off good #'s for Hell's Kitchen, taking 3rd overall but oddly losing to repeats of CSI: Miami & Two and a half men.
Personally althrough this would be kind of stupid, The CW should try and air new episodes of there comedy series in the summer to try and bring in better #'s for the network being as people that watch that channel are made mostly of teenager's who are off in the summer and it could pull in better #'s for the demo they are looking for cause all the kids will be out of school.

Now that the Sopranos is over, does anyone think that HBO will start sinking? I never watched the Sopranos but I know that it is the networks highest rated series ever & I was just wondering if they will ever see numbers like the Sopranos got or will HBO fall?
I say bring back the Larry Sanders show! Thats never going to happen I know but to me thats still the greatest HBO show ever & one of the best TV shows period.

Oh & not to add any work load or anything Movieman but do you think if you can find them, post the #s for TLC & A&E original shows like DOG: the bounty hunter, Little people, Big world & Miami Ink.
I don't know if they have the ratings for those type of none major networks but if you could post them (If you can find them) every once & awhile that would be fantastic.

Are cable ratings regularly listed someplace? I'd be curious what some of those shows (including Deadliest Catch) get as well.

aktick: I know they do get published, or at least used to be published. Locally the paper would always run highest-rated cable shows and they would invariably be some sort of sport event or a wrestling program.

If I can find them, I will, but I have yet to see them published (of course, I haven't exactly been looking too hard). But I will if I see them...

I never thought a channel like TNT got numbers like for original programming, I don't watch the show but this could be good for Law & Order: CI which will be airing new episodes first-run on the USA network.

I cannot believe 10 million homes watched a repeat of that "Two and a Half Men" show. My god, that show is just downright fucking awful.

Yeah, that was bit surprising. I actually watched the season premiere (never saw the show before) after channel surfing. With the dull days of summer it seems the only new programming are lame ass reality TV.

Should be interesting to see what kind of numbers the second-half season premiere Monk gets.

I don't want to get into the kind of shit I got into in part 1 of the Primetime TV ratings thread but I agree that Two & a Half men is pretty awful.
It goes to show you that just because it gets good numbers in the ratings doesn't mean its actually a good show. Scrubs is the funniest show on Television but it gets poor numbers in the ratings.
People in the summer should try Hell's Kitchen because its better than watching a repeat of T&AHM or esp. the now extremely horrible CSI: Miami.
