Aside from a rather bland final season, Homicide is a fantastic show. Great cast -- Andre Braugher, Kyle Secore, Yaphet Kotto, Daniel Baldwin, Ned Beatty, Jon Polito; cinema verite style camera work.
Really, as a fan of The Wire you can't go wrong with this box at this price. I think I paid around $50 a piece for the previous six boxsets (S1 & S2 combined into one box). Homicide is based on a non-fiction novel by David Simon, takes place and shot on location in Baltimore.
Just do yourself a favor and skip the last season.

A lot of people love the show, but I never got into it.
The characters are always at each others throats. None of them are really "friends." The constant infighting and tension made it hard for me to care about any of the characters, and if I can't care about the characters it doesn't matter how great the writing is, I can't enjoy the show.

Oh, and, this is one of the best shows ever aired on television. Andre Braugher consistently knocks it out of the park and this is a great price for the set.

But, yeah, I noticed that it was shipping in May too. Perhaps the price'll drop lower the first week to compete with other retailers? Or maybe they'll show up at Costco/BJ's again?
Pass that popcorn, ernestrp.

Didn't Barry Levinson (Rain Man; The Natural; The Perfect Storm) produce the series, as well as direct a few episodes? I always thought it was one of the best written shows on televison, along with Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere.

This is one of my all time favorite shows. Great writing and acting. Also very funny, surprisingly so if you've never seen it. When this was on, I enthusiastically recommended it to everyone I knew. As far as I know, none of them ever bothered to watch it. Their loss. Now I pass my ineffective recommendation onto you.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Picked up this (though I already own s1,2 & 3) and I got Kids in The Hall Season 5 for 24.13! I decided to go with the "Complete Series" set soley because it contains the L&O crossovers.

If you got the $20 off A&E e-mail, it will be $101.32 shipped from A&E's store.

A&E has it on sale for $113.37 ... a banner on the Home Page states ... Take $15 Off your order of $75 or more at our Spring Sale ... when you add it to the cart it shows $98.37 ... plus $7.95 shipping ... for a total of $106.32 ...
A banner on the Cart Page states ... Take $20 off your order of $100 or more at our Spring Sale (Discount applied in Shopping Cart. Offer expires 5/9/07) ... but for some reason only $15 is deucted from the $113.37 ... rather than $20 ... you can get free shipping if you use a Mastercard (which I don't have) ...
