Black Emmanuelle Box/'Emanuelle Around the World' - multiple versions(!)

Hand it to Severin Films to release a limited box set comprised of

- EMANUELLE IN BANGKOK
- SISTER EMANUELLE
- EMANUELLE AROUND THE WORLD
- BONUS CD: GETTING DOWN WITH BLACK EMANUELLE
An all-new compilation of remastered soundtrack music by composer Nico Fidenco.

This box set is limited to 4000 units

Limited Edition Collection Features A Never-Before-Seen Interview With Cult Director Joe D'Amato & All-New Soundtrack Compilation CD!

Now here's the kick in the pants according to Xploited Cinema: the version EMANUELLE AROUND THE WORLD in the box is a trunscated version, the more extreme version of the film will be released separately from the box:

'This version of EMANUELLE AROUND THE WORLD is a different version of the film that is in the BLACK EMANUELLE'S BOX .'

for the completist I am, that means I have shell out an additional 20 bucks for the other version of '... Around the World' - oh well... just thought I'd pass this news along for fans of this series.

It kind of sucks that they pulled that. I'll check out the R-rated version when I get my box, and see if I think I'll want the upgrade or not.

got a confirmation from Ryko:

Yes, there are two different versions of the film. The version in the box is the X rated version and runs 97 mins. The XXX European Version is the one sold separately and runs 102 mins.

My guess is because stores wouldn't carry it with the XXX version.

well considering the box set is limited to 4000 - I don't think alot of stores are going to get a chance to sell this, regardless if it's the XXX version (which oddly isn't a limited pressing)

I was wondering about that. What BS!

Unless the XXX version has additional footage shot by another director and squeezed in to the original film. That sometimes happens for the European releases and it sometimes looks very bad and I usually avooid that.

Take the XXX cut of "99 Women" for example. Yuk. "Erotic Night Of the Living Dead" would be a case where the longer cut is required.

oh you're right... forgot about how gratuitous (and badly integrated) the x-rated footage for '99 Woman' was.

That's what I love about Tony at xploited. He'll give a head's up regarding stuff like this.

My two favorites are Emanuelle in America and Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals.

I can vouch for those.

Any reviews of this box set filtering in? Especially differences between the two versions of "Emanuelle - Around the World".

Also, will "Emanuelle In Bangkok" or "Sister Emanuelle" be sold separately?

The sad part is, xploited has a link to the XXX version .. but the problem is, it links to xploitedcinema.com/catalog/index.php ... which doesn't really get you to the films.

Post on Severin's website in February:

In other puritan news, the facility that creates our subtitles today ejected both the regular X Rated and XXX Rated European cuts of EMANUELLE AROUND THE WORLD from their facility due to 'inappropriate content'. We're now searching for a subtitle house with less of an aversion to Mr. D'Amato's unique vision and hope this does not necessitate a delay in the 3/27 street date of BLACK EMANUELLE'S BOX.

I'm glad to note that the review states the alternate stronger cut of EMANUELLE AROUND THE WORLD, contains scenes that were shot for the actual production and not just tacked in without no rhyme or reason.

Cool. Thanks. That's all I needed to hear. I hate to double dip (on a new release!) but I'm going to have to.

Subtitling a XXX sex scene CAN be difficult sometimes...it must be that language barrier thing...one woman's grunt can be SO misinterpreted...
