SSX Blur- Who's getting it?
I have seen a couple movies of game play, and am a huge fan of Trickey and SSX3. This is a game that I have had on my radar for quite some time. Anyone picking this up?
I think it releases on the 27th, so it should hit stores by the end of the week. I haven't seen any reviews for it yet though.
Here are a couple movies of how the Wii controller will be used in the game, with some actual gameplay footage.

I liked the last SSX on the 'cube, but this one just doesn't interest me too much. I'll wait for the reviews to see if it is worth it. Too many VC games to get through

Not much interest, was never big on the games and the control scheme doesn't look like it will add much to change that.
Just swapping a few little movements for button presses, so nothing groundbreaking there.

Just saying it wasn't enough for me to revisit a series I didn't like all that much to begin with.
But yes, I am a bit down on the Wii controls thus far and haven't been enjoying it as much as I thought. That is mostly post launch game drought rather than the system though.

I really enjoy all of the SSX games but I want to check out how much depth/replayability this game has before buying it. Hopefully it'll have quite a few modes/tracks/unlockables.

My favorite quote from that review is the following:
If you’re a fan of the SSX series who has become disinterested over the past few years, SSX Blur will stoke the flames once again. It replicates the feeling of sliding down a mountain side with eerie precision and manages to make other control schemes feel dated. There’s certainly plenty of opportunity for improvement with the sequel, but with a ton of content and even more fun, it’s hard to go wrong with SSX Blur.
That pretty much was what I was hoping to hear.

I think if you read the review, they are talking about multiplayer content and online content, which is their main gripe in the review. I don't care about either of those things, so I usually ignore them when people bitch list them as negatives.
I don't think they were talking about the controls or the single player game when they made that comment. In fact, they actually praise the controls.

I've played a demo of SSX Blur, and I thought the controls felt pretty good. The tracks reminded me more of what I liked in SSX Tricky, vs. the open mountain feel of 3.

IGNs review will be up sometime today.
Main gripe seems to be that the controls are frustratingly inconsistent, especially with the ubertricks.
I'll definitely be passing on this one. I've pretty much written off any of these full motion control games as none of the seem to work to the level I want (i.e. at least as precise, consistent and intuitive as a normal gamepad). The controls seem better when used like in Zelda to enhance a normal control scheme rather than totally replace it.
At least thus far....this could change when developers get a better handle on the hardware.
