I watched about half an hour of it while waiting for my parent's movie to get out and it was unbelieveably bad. I would rank this as one of the worst of the year.

The effects were BRUTAL and distracting for the elves...just groan inducing. I thought Vaughn was good in the first half, then they don't give him anything to do. The story takes all it's predictable turns and we get the LONGEST gift delivering/Gift opening sequence of any movie EVER. BORING, BORING, BORING. I liked Vaughn enough in the first half to not HATE the entire movie but the rest was overly sweet and LAME. (the brother anonymous scene was the only highlight of the last half). 2 out of 5.

A few thoughts:
-Some of the elves creeped me out (the ones that had "normal" actors' heads superimposed on little bodies).
-Paul Giamatti's fat hands also creeped me out.
-The scene with all of the cameos was kind of cute.
-I think I discovered that I have a new fetish: women dressed in sexy Santa suits. Or maybe it was just Elizabeth Banks.
Saw this yesterday afternoon and agree. I didn't think it was that bad, but it wasn't very good either. I thought it would be funnier, but instead it seemed like a run of the mill holiday movie about bad guy gone good.

Kevin Spacey's christmas wish was kind of funny though.

That's a lot of the blase feedback. I wonder if a Christmas movie will actually flop. I'm sure it happened before (though I can't cite any examples). But It's rare to see.

It wasn't THAT bad. I think it had a good soundtrack...

First movie I've seen with Paul Giamatti where he didn't play a slimeball.

And yes, Elizabeth Banks is niiiiiiiice.

I went to a matinee with a friend and there were only 4 of us in the theater, but it was playing on 4 screens at this place.

So will this movie not hit DVD until next November? Deck the Halls and Santa Clause 3 are just now getting on DVD after their theatrical release 1 year ago.

I watched it last night terrible movie and a waste of Elizabeth Banks. However unintentionally funny when hey ran they were fighting on the snowmobile and went into the snowman. Just came off as weird.

This would make a great double bill with Vince Vaughn's current craptastic holiday film, Four Christmases.

Vince needs to make Wedding Crashers 2: Office Christmas Party Crashers ASAP and make it a Christmas Punishment Trilogy.

I didn't think this was horrible but I'll agree it wasn't a great movie. Really liking Vince Vaughn's monologues is a necessity with this movie. I only had the SD but the picture and sound were very poor. Substandard PQ and the audio was terrible. Was supposed to be DD5.1 but sounded more like DD2.0.

So I just watched this off HBO last night and didn't think it was very good.

The one thing that just went completely past me was Kevin Spacey's 'efficiency expert' character. It seemed a very lazy way of getting conflict into the story.

I kept wondering who this character is? Who sent him? and why do the people that sent him have the 'authority' to 'shut down the north pole'. Did I miss something more than him just showing up in a helicopter and saying 'here I am to mess things up'?

While I agree, the film still gave us Spacey wearing a Superman cape. That is a win, in my book.
