Why does UK get SEs/UEs of Predator and The Terminator 1st?
Why is it that the UK gets the loaded editions of these movies first when their production had absolutely nothing to do with the UK. This isn't like other regions getting special packaging. Predator SE was out in UK for a long time before coming here and the same with The Terminator Ultimate Edition which just came out last year and if it follows the same timetable, won't be coming out for a while here. Guess they're saving the best Terminator for last , but what the heck? When is this coming out region 1?

What exactly do you exactly mean by "production"? of the DVD or the original film?
Usually it's the rights issue, like Supramallet said. I could ask you why Homicide:life on the streets has NEVER been released here in the UK. I have to import it in and I might get hit with customs charges with it.
In regards to those versions I believe the Japanese UEs are the best in reference to packaging and sound/vision quality.

Interesting, I'd actually like to see if anyone could confirm whether or not the Japanese R2 Ultimates came out before the UK R2s now that the OP has mentioned it. The R2 Predator has never looked better!!

At least in the case of Predator, the SE was delayed because they wanted to tie it in with theaterical release of Aliens v. Predator.
Terminator SE was really just a financial decision on when MGM wanted revenue, since their library was their only asset at the time.
