Although I never bought her stuff but I was always a fan. She's just so cool.

Say, I thought The Runaways were finally in talks to hook up again? What gives?

I would LOVE to see a Runaways reunion. Not sure if it will happen. Vicki Blue (replacement bassist for Jackie Fox) directed a documentary about The Runaways and Joan did not participate.

The closest I saw to a reunion was in Los Angles back in 1984 when Cherie Currie did some solo gigs with Sandy West on drums. Jackie Fox was in the audience. Sandy then had her own group for a while and Lita Ford was at one of the gigs.

Yeah that documentary was awesome. I guess I thought I heard that they had actually put aside "issues" and that even Joan was in talks with them. I mean it was a faliry recent(year and a half ago?) bit of news. Oh well.

I don't think Joan has any bones with Cherie or Sandy since she has links to their websites on hers. Cherie is still a hottie!

I just purchased The Runaways Live in Japan on CD. Man, those gals kicked ass!

***************
I've heard a few songs off the new CD: Fetish, Naked, Five, Baby Blue....and they are all very good. Fetish is quite explicit...so I don't think it will get radio play but Naked or Five would be great singles.

The closest thing I saw to a Runaways reunion was in LA at the Palladium over 10 years ago. Joan Jett was backed by L7 and they did Runaways songs.

The majority of these songs have been kicked around since they were recorded in 1996-1997. A couple (FETISH, BABY BLUE) were reelased in 1999 on the Jett compilation cd FETISH. Most were released 2 years ago, in Japan, as the album NAKED. A couple were recently recorded (ACDC, re-recording of NAKED) for this US release. And yes, she has gotten VERY BUTCH.

Am I correct in assuming that "Androgynous" is the Replacements tune?

Replacements tune

Yep, it's a cover of the Replacements. This song was recorded back in 1996 and she has been playing it in concert ever since. It also appeared on her 2004 Japanese cd NAKED.

Cool, I saw her live 2 years ago and she played some of these songs and they Rocked. I didn't want to shell out the big bucks for the imports though.

While it's a terrible place to go to actually experience music, I'll be seeing her at the Warped Tour this year. Depending on her performance, I'll decide if I would like to see her in another setting.

Joan and the boys definitely give it their all live. I've seen them a few times in the past couple of years and Joan rocks hard.

jett cd

I like that one better than the "official' on coming June 6. The 'official' one is way too air brushed.

For those that want to check it out, the movie is called Edgeplay. I saw it on cable last year and immediately ordered it. If Joan had participated, it would've been a slam dunk. It's still pretty damn good, though.

Tom....very true. Joan's participation would have rocked! I guess she had her reasons.....but it would have been very cool.

Joan Jett wanted it stopped altogether

You need to look into why Jett had no participation. There are tons of interviews and stuff out there with Vicki Blue on what happened behind the scenes of the making of the documentary and why Cherie Currie and Sandy West also ended up not wanting to have anything to do witht he film (although it was too late and they already got their 15 minutes of fame back in the spotlight by taking part in the movie.) Vicki did a great job with it and it was cool to see Lita Ford back in any shape or form.

Jett was just being difficult. I mean hell, THEY ALL had reasons for saying fuck you to the movie. However, most didn't and we ended up with great look into what was a very difficult situation for all.

The funny thing is I tend to like Older Women so I think some of them look better now than they did back in the 1970's.

I was thinking about how although I had heard of The Runaways, I didn't remember them until Lita Ford and Joan Jett's solo careers came along. I was a huge Lita Ford fan back in the 80's.

I love Jackie Fox in that photo with her bass. She's really striking a pose and has that "don't fuck with me" look on her face.

Recent photo of Cherie

I really liked Lita's first solo album "Out For Blood" the best....before the record execs made her too radio friendly/mainstream.
