Milestone DVDs in your collection
Do you guys with large DVD collections keep track of "milestone" numbers in your collection? Such as #1, #100, #500, #1000, etc. And if you do keep track, do you go out of your way to make it a special DVD for a particular milestone?
My 1000th DVD is coming up and I kinda want it to be something that is a standout DVD. I'm leaning towards the Kingdom of Heaven 4-disc DC.
So, is there anyone else weird like me?

I was always concerned about the quanity of my collection, so much that i didn't pay attention to my 100th or 500th. I got L.A. Confidential when i got my player, so that was my first one. I know i just hit 500 within the last 2-3 months. And it took me eight years to do that, and my memory is for shit. I was just saying to my wife that i was going to start writing down what the specific dvd that was my 600th,700th, and so on.

No, but for fun:
1 = Rushmore CC
100 = Hellboy
500 = Carandiru
666 = Uptown Girls
1000 = Dellamorte Dellamore
1500 = House of Fury
I have another 300 or so movies to enter (I'm lazy), so I'll find out which is #2000 someday. But yeah, definately no method to the numbering. It helps me find them (I order by number), but otherwise meaningless to me.

No. I sell or give away titles sometimes because of better editions or if I decide I just don't want them. So, I'm not sure how I would even say that my 400th DVD (which is coming up) is really my 400th, when I've actually bought more than that number already.

"Hey there, dvd rack, guess who's got a Big Day coming up??? I don't want to spoil anything, but you might want to clear some space for a Special Surprise! Kisses!"

No, but just for the hell of it, I'll steal MBS's numbers
1 = Brazil CC
100 = The Man Who Wasn't There
500 = Patriot Games
666 = Point of No Return
1000 = That's Entertainment Part II
I'm not quite up to 1500

100 = The Awful Truth: Complete Second Season
500 = Garden State
666 = Apollo 13: 2 Disc Anniversary Edition
1000 = The Most Dangerous Game: Criterion Collection
Sadly, my collection hasn't quite hit 1400 yet.

That's impossible, unless you also keep track of what you sell, and what the actual purchase order is, not just what DVD Profiler lists in order.
If you have 422 DVDs and you've sold 22, you're celebrating Seven Samurai as #400 when it was really Seven Sams in Her Eye.

But otherwise I might consider it.

Thread title made me think of http://www.milestonefilms.com
I remember that my first DVD was Monty Python and the Holy Grail. As for my 100th, 500th, etc., I have no idea and I'm too lazy to keep track.

The only DVD milestone I ever celebrated was when i got the seventh season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, cause it was the first TV show that I ever completed... And that was fitting because the first season was like the 20th dvd i ever bought myself.

I know my first was cruel intentions back in 1999. My first tv series My So Called Life and i had even brought the vhs sets that were put out before the dvd set. When players 1st came out my mom insisted on having one for Christmas 1998 but other then that I have no clue about milestones. My mom was annonyed at 1st because Blockbuster was not renting them at the time and had to drive about 15-20 to i believe a Movie Gallery.
I was the one who was into buying them, we only had 20-30 pre recorded videos (mostily Disney) but I got my first job and decided to spent my money on this hobby. Most of my family still thinks am nuts for having so much epsecially all the tv boxsets. But I say I found it more enjoyable then blowing money on drinking or drugs which shuts them up since most have indulaged in at least one of those. I love this place because I feel like my collection is small. I wish i had found it sooner and had been around in the beginning so my collection would be bigger with less money out of pocket.
