$7.95 MGM titles--good way to use FunCash

This may be common knowledge... a search showed nothing and I typically don't pay much attention to FunCash, although I did collect $46 during the B1G1/free ship sale.

CH has some titles, I believe all from MGM, priced at $7.95 MSRP. In fact, these all carry an MSRP of $14.95. Seems like a good way to use some FunCash.

I got:

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia
Fargo Special Edition
Last Tango in Paris
Europa Europa
The Princess Bride Special Edition
Viva Maria

Total with shipping and tax was a little over $16 (using $46 in FunCash).

There are other titles available, including several Woody Allens, a couple more World Films titles, Some Like It Hot SE, Coffee & Cigarettes, etc.

Thanks for the list. It is still not complete, however. One title I notice is missing is The Lover. There may be others. Still, this should be useful for people looking to spend FunCash.

BTW, some of these films are excellent. I highly recommend Bertolucci's Last Tango in Paris.

Thanks for posting the list. It was a good idea. I have a bunch of Funcash I need to use this year. Unfortunately there weren't any titles in this list that I wanted. Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia is on my to-rent list, but I don't like blind buying stuff, especially Sam Peckinpah movies.

One interesting thing I noticed from visual inspection is that a good number of these are single layer releases meaning a low video bitrate, and I know several are not anamorphic (because I once looked them up when I was considering buying them). Many of these are what I call "sloppy job" DVDs, so I avoid them. Anyone buying these should look up reviews on DVD-Basen first.

Another warning: There is a Princess Bride triple dip coming in some number of months.

Most likely I'll use my Funcash on new releases. I'd rather have 1 good new release than 3 "sloppy job" DVDs.

Depressing.... I didn't know of this and used all my FunCash yesterday on Smile (Ritchie) an MGM title. It is not $7.95 but unfortunately I could've used the FunCash on 2 titles instead of one. Would have liked to have gotten Crimes and Misdemeanors and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Oh well.

I really recommend from this list - in order
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (in my top 3 of all time-so this is obvious)
Carnal Knowledge
Last Tango in Paris
Crimes and Misdemeanors

If anyone would prefer to have The Thing (Carpenter) - 16x9 still sealed for Thunderbolt and Lightfoot let me know! Last ditch effort.

I'm trying to pick some of these up (The Outer Limits discs) and it will not let me use any more than $4 for any one disc and when combined with others it will only let me use $2 on some titles. On some I can't use any Fun Cash at all when combined with others. I can choose the amount but the amounts change when I go to check out.

What am I doing wrong?

Quite a few interesting titles that could be ordered with funcash, used as fillers, or you can pick 'em up for about $5, including shipping with the default "buy one at $19.95, get up to 50% off". I believe that you would also receive $2 in funcash for every one of these that you purchase.

Does anyone know if it's true that there are 2 identical looking releases of Weekend at Bernie's except 1 is anamorphic and the other isn't? If that's right, is CH selling the anamorphic one here?

Weekend at Bernies looks totally different. Look for the MGM logo, that is the anamorphic one.

Anybody have the answer to how to use more than $4 Funcash per disc?

I just found out that code 806199 seems to give you 50% off everything in your cart. No need to buy a $19.95 title or higher. This makes all these MGM titles $3.98 + shipping (plus $2 funcash per title).

I had no problem applying $8 Funcash to one disc. Maybe it just applies to certain titles or certain accounts? Sorry, that's not really an answer.

Could somebody give me an example of a title they used more than $4 funcash on for an online order. With that I'll be able to tell if I can do the same and see if it's just a matter of which title I'm choosing. TIA.

I have $14 and tried it on Triumph and the same thing happened. I can choose all $14 in the drop down box but it changes to only $4 when I go to the checkout screen.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

In the rare times that I mess with funcash, I prefer to use the $7.95 titles to accumulate it rather than spend it on them. The discounted price of the $7.95 DVDs is usually $3.98. So, when there is a free shipping deal or like recently when I fulfilled a 3 commitment account with 3 boxsets (and 3 reg. DVDs with B1G1) and the shipping maxed out at $15, I'll add several of these onto the order at less than $4 apiece shipped, and build a worthwhile funcash balance in the process.

I think it's the best way to work these lowpriced titles into your account (and I agree, there are plenty of good ones), certainly better than using an enrollment on them. Then I'll usually use the funcash on a $9.95 title(s), which are reduced only to $7.95 when discounted, so not as profitably obtained through the other method.

I know it's penny-pinching, microanalytical, and ultimately trivial, but hey...

Any other codes that do the above? This one reverts to $7.95 when placed in the funcash cart for me.

No code works in a FUNCASH cart.
