Herbie Fully Loaded DVD blurb: Herbie gets his own Commentary

from davis dvd

Herbie: Fully Loaded

When Herbie: Fully Loaded hits DVD later this year, the little VW will have a commentary track of his own. No word if he'll actually speak or - God help us - just beep. Speaking to Sci Fi Wire, director Angela Robinson says that work on the disc is underway and that she and the cast already have completed their commentary tracks. Expect plenty of deleted scenes, including a subplot with Breckin Meyer that was completely excised from the theatrical release, along with behind-the-scenes featurettes and "cast insights." Herbie opens theatrically on June 24th.

That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard! Why not have a stoplight do a commentary while they're at it!

Or the rest of Lindsay Lohan's breasts that got cut out of the movie should do a commentary.

Herbie's German anyway, so hopefully he's bi-lingual.

So maybe they can get Werner Klemperer to do Herbie on the commentary?

They didn't get cut out of the movie. Ever since she got skinny, she lost her chest. Sort of proves all those people who said they were implants wrong.

Probably right after there is a bunch of movies based on a "living" stoplight.

'Herbie' DVD Will Put Viewers Behind the Wheel
Author: KYRA KIRKWOOD

Like a fueled-up race car roaring around the track, the upcoming DVD for Disney’s Herbie: Fully Loaded is rumored to be a powerhouse packed with extras.

“They’ve got everything,” said director Angela Robinson (D.E.B.S.) about the Herbie DVD.

The movie stars Lindsay Lohan as Maggie Peyton, a college grad with dreams of following her family’s car racing legacy. After bonding with a junked Volkswagen Bug named Herbie, Maggie and the car work to fulfill each other’s racing dreams.

Filmmakers of this family film are not wanting for bonus material. In training for Herbie, cast members attended driver’s training and even “pit school” to learn the NASCAR ropes. It hasn’t been decided how much, if any, of that material will wind up on the disc, but the DVD is rumored to be fully loaded with commentaries, technical information about the cars and interviews.

“They’ve got interviews with Herbie,” laughed Robinson, who herself has dibs on keeping one of the 37 1963 Volkswagen Bugs used in the making of the film.

Also included is a 20-minute featurette with NASCAR’s top-ranked female driver, Deborah Renshaw, on what it’s like to be a NASCAR driver. Renshaw spent a day at the California Speedway in Fontana shooting scenes to show fans such things as how drivers get in and out of their cars (through the driver’s side window, which means the steering wheel has to come off to get in and out) and the apparatus that lets the driver drink water through a tube that feeds in through the helmet. Viewers will see the track from the driver’s point of view and get a tour of race-car gadgetry.

“I’m out there explaining turns one, two, three and four,” Renshaw said between takes. “There are no competitors on the track, but I want viewers to take away a sense of what it feels like to be in a race car.”

The deleted scenes may have special meaning to some of Herbie’s cast. A few of the film’s subplots that were removed from the theatrical version may find a new home on the disc, Robinson said.

One axed thread involves star Breckin Meyer and his character’s love of drumming. When alerted by a reporter to the absence of his drumming scenes, Meyer, who had not yet seen the film, unleashed his trademark wit.

“[Well,] I get to smash up cars,” he said. “I hug Lindsay. Really, that’s all I signed up to do. Good thing I didn’t go to drumming school.”

Lindsay Lohan (“Mean Girls,” “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,” “Freaky Friday”) stars as Maggie Peyton, a talented car racer who rescues Herbie from the junk yard. When she first takes little “Number 53” home, she doesn’t realize what she’s got. But with her mechanic pal Kevin (Justin Long, “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story”), Maggie finds out that Herbie’s the free-wheelin’ Volkswagen beetle with a mind of his own. Although her dad (Michael Keaton, “White Noise,” “Batman”) forbids her to race, Maggie puts Herbie through his paces on the road to becoming a NASCAR competitor.

When Maggie is challenged by the road-hog race king Trip Murphy (Matt Dillon, “Crash,” “There’s Something About Mary”), she finds out that Herbie’s got some new tricks under his hood as he takes audiences for an action-packed spin in this high-speed comedy. With an allstar cast along for a wild ride, this comedy puts Herbie to the test – on road, off-road, on the track and into the record books.

HERBIE: FULLY LOADED also stars Breckin Meyer (“Kate and Leopold”) and Cheryl Hines (TV’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm”). Story by Thomas Lennon & Robert Ben Garant and Mark Perez. Screenplay by Thomas Lennon & Robert Ben Garant and Alfred Gough & Miles Millar, “based on characters created by Gordon Buford.” Directed by Angela Robinson.
