DVD Formats
I have a JVC progressive scan DVD player hooked up to a High Definition Toshiba television. My DVD player has 480i and 480p signal formats. My Toshiba television has 480i, 480p and 1080i signal formats. I selected 480p for the DVD player, but I'm not sure what to select for my television (the manual says 1080i is the best format, however do I get 1080i with my DVD player). Could someone please help me figure out what is the correct setting in this situation. Opinions matter to me.
Thanks a lot,
Clark

Toshiba has the unfortunate feature of having to upconvert 480p to its internal 540p. You should set your player to progressive, which is 480p output and your set would be using a standard input which accepts 480p.
If you had a player that could upconvert to 1080i you might get a better picture.
