What do you think is the #1 twist ending in movie history? (spoilers)

Got the idea from a recent Entertainment Weekly.

I think the cliched answer would be "The Sixth Sense", but I don't care that is mine because it truly blew me away. But a very close second would be "The Usual Suspects"

Yours...

Planet of the Apes is probably the best one, but The Empire Strikes Back is easily the most famous twist ending.

It's a toss-up between Empire and Keyser Soze for me.

Mrs. Winterbourne also has a good--although probably unknown amongst these parts--one.

Another vote here for the Ususal Suspects.

Other personal favorite is Memento.

This not #1 twisted ending, but some of my other movies have already been listed:

Presumed Innocent (1990) Harrison Ford - get build up to a gentle ending

No way out - Kevin Costner

I'll try to add a few that haven't been mentioned yet. All of these have very cool twists, both obvious in your face and some that are more subtle.

Adaptation
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Fight Club
Memento
Oldboy
The Others
Se7en
Sleepaway Camp

-usual suspects, lol yea!

-i guess the ending to NARC is a twist, I liked it alot anyways.

-I've watched empire so much that I forget that the twist is even a twist at all. But a good one I guess.

Took my answer... this is the #1 twist ending. I was in utter shock.

Tale of Two Sisters had a good one too.

Playing with people's knowledge of Psycho, I thought it was really surprising in Psycho II
Spoiler:
Where Norman really did have a mother killing people.

I'm a little confused, what would you consider the 'twist ending' of American Psycho?

I believe that is a matter of debate, you could make a case that people just thought they were having lunch with Paul Allen, since it seemed nobody recognized anybody else (a commentary on the society, I guess).

Basic Instinct-maybe a little predictable
Jagged Edge

I think it was Robert McKee (the screenwriting expert and man played by Brian Cox in Adaptation) who said you never have a thriller unless you have a false ending.

Like Birrman54 diplomaticly says, I guess it's up for debate. I think it's very clear
Spoiler:
that the murders were all real. Bateman is so generic and un-unique that he blends in with everyone else, he isn't a 'master of the universe', he is a complete nothing. Not even commiting the most henious acts are enough to make him noticable.

Yeah, i was going to mention that its up for debate and can be looked at different ways. Never the less, the twist is that there is that possibility and uncertainty about the events of the film.

How... exactly... does Memento have a "twist" ending?
