Master of the Flying Guillotine questions
first of all, where is the soundtrack to this thing? the song that plays during the credits is awesome! And what's going on with the English language track? I see on the box that there's 12 minutes of restored footage, so I guess that those minutes are in Mandarin? It's really weird to be watching the movie for about 10 minutes then have the English switch to Chinese: I was grabbing the remote to see if I sat on the wrong button......but really, that soundtrack is amazing....

That why you should be watching the subs to begin with.
But at least it's not as bad as the Drunken Master DVD, where if you listen to the Cantonese track, it cuts back and forth between the English dub and the Cantonese track every 5 minutes. There was nothing funny about that.

Some of the music is also from Kraftwerk's AUTOBAHN
Are you sure that the Master's theme is Super 16? The sample on Amazon.com doesn't sound anything like it.

About the Drunken Master dvd, where it switches between english and cantonese is because of damage to the original cantonese track I believe. So they just put in english in the damaged parts.

A new Master of the Flying Guillotine question:
Any word on what the upcoming Deluxe edition will have?
My guess is that this one will be 16x9.

WTF? A new version already? I didn't even get around to watching the last remastered one on DVD yet, although I did catch it when it made the theater rounds a couple of years ago.
And what exactly is causing this new version to be spaced out on 2 discs? Must be a 2 hour interview or something.

I was curious about that as well so I e-mailed Pathfinder to find out. If I get a response, I'll post it here.
I haven't watched the first release yet either!

The print used for the original release was not the best. There was a rather irritating "strobing" effect during several sequences of the film. I really like the film, so if this new anamorphic DVD has an improved transfer, I might double dip. (although I don't understand why we need a new commentary from Klein and Major either )

Yeah the original DVD's transfer was pretty terrible, but light-years better than the "archived" version I had on VHS for years. I just assumed they didn't have a good print to work with or didn't have enough money to totally fix it up nice. If this new one has a visibly better looking print, I might just have to get it and trade in the other at a used CD/DVD store.
