Degrassi?
For about 2 years now, I have been watching "Degrassi: The Next Generation" on the N... I always figured that their was a series before, but never gave it much thought.
One day though, I was surfing on a TV website and read about the original series, and it sounds as good if not better than the Next Generation.
I did notice that the original isn't on DVD (only available through VERY expensive DVD's)....
But my question is that with "Degrassi: Next Generation" getting a DVD release in September, does this mean that the original series will be seen on DVD, too?
Thanks.

There was a thread about DeGrassi here:

Since I posted that, I think I've seen all the current episodes of Next Generation on The N. Except the ones The N won't show. I enjoy the show, but I Identify more with the adult characters. I would now like to see the the original shows that Next Generation is based on. However, I have seen nothing about them coming out on dvd. You can, as you pointed out, get them on vhs through Amazon(I think) or WGBH in Boston. Of course, if you bought all three series this way you would be spending well over $400!
The first season of Next Generation comes on on dvd next month, so maybe the original series will eventually get a realease. I've never seen them and would like to.

Oh man...
I just watched a couple of episodes of Degrassi: The Next Generation. It was pretty good so I looked up everything I could about the show and why it was the "Next Generation." Anyway, I have a sudden desire to see The Kids of Degrassi Street/Degrassi Junior High/Degrassi High. These shows have characters only a few years younger than myself. Any chance that they are broadcast anywhere? Maybe they'll come to dvd soon.

The Original Series was much much better than the "Next Generation". It dealt with more realistic issues. Not sugar coated, politically correct nonsense.
Thats my opinion.
