Donald does some great acting, but the last thing I read about him was an interview with Joss Whedon talking about how much of an a-hole he when making the Buffy:TVS movie.

he's always solid, but not the type of guy that will get me into the theater just because he's in the movie

I'll always remember him for his role in 1979's "Invasion of the body snatchers". Scared the crap out of me (especially the ending) when I was 10 years old.

The single best Scene he was ever in was JFK in my opinion. I can watch that part over and over.

I loved him in CITIZEN X.

D. Sutherland is a cool guy with a cool look. He's even cooler than his son.

Agreed, he was great in Citizen X.
I just think he's an awesome actor, and his derrogatory tone is outmatched!

One of the most underrated of actors.

One of Oscar's most egregious mistakes was not nominating him for Ordinary People. Timothy Hutton should have been in the Best Actor category, which he would not have won. Sutherland should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor which he should have won.

In the seventies he was in several of the best Horror/Suspense films of the decade:
Don't Look Now
Murder by Decree
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Blood Relatives

I really like donald sutherland, but you can't help but think that he hasn't been really good in a film in a long time.

What do you consider a long time? It's not like he has been bad in a film recently either. He just hasn't done that much.

He was pretty good in Space Cowboys (2000) and he hasn't really been in much to be good in since then, although he does have several things coming out soon,
