Trying desperately to find Cronaca di una Morte Annunciata "Chronicle of a Death..."

I'm doing an independent study in the fall about movies directed/written by latin Americans and am hunting down this Italian film directed by Francesco Rosi and written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Any tips? I can't find this anywhere, be it on DVD or VHS. Please help me out!

The Rupert Everett film? I owned that years ago on VHS. It was on VHS from Columkbia TriStar in the UK.

It's a bit rare, but there's one copy at www.ebay.co.uk and you could try a very good video hunt service (£18/US$34) here

You don't say where you are (use of 'fall' suggests the US). Many UK universities (and www.bfi.org.uk) will loan out VHS to people who can prove they need the material for a study of some sort. That may be a good avenue.

Sorry - yeah I'm in Washington, D.C. in the U.S.. That's my main problem; I can't play PAL VHS or DVDs.

Many independent video stores (read: lots of international titles) will convert PAL to NTSC for you for the cost of the tape plus a small charge.

No offence, but for someone studying film to say "I can't play PAL VHS or DVDs" is equal to you saying you don't have a word processor.

No problem to do transfers. I'm sure someone in the UK can put that VHS on a PAL DVD for you which can then be played on your PC without a problem.

That's if you're serious of course.

Relax, man. I'm in high school and I've taken one film course in my life, Spanish Cinema (in Spanish). This year I thought I'd continue with an independent study of latin American film. I'm learning. Thanks a lot for the tip though. I'll try to get the PAL version then and then just have it converted.
