"Quantum Leap"...what episode where Sam was a soldier and he sang "Imagine"?

It was one of my most favorite episodes ever of any tv show. I think he was a soldier or was going into Vietnam and sang John Lennon's "Imagine" to a little girl I believe and she wailed because she couldn't believe how he could come up with such amazing lyrics...is how I think it went.
I haven't seen it since and just want to know what episode and the season so I can look out for it on DVD. I would give anything just to have that episode!!!
Thanks for any help.

"The Leap Home: Parts I and II," (1990) a two-parter that dealt with Sam's brother, Tom, going to Vietnam.

In the first ep he leaped into himself as a teenager, right before his brother was about to be shipped off to Vietnam, where he would die. Sam sang "Imagine" to his little sister on their front porch.

In the next ep sam leaped into a member of his brother's SEAL team in Vietnam. I won't say any more - because I don't want to ruin it - but those two eps were probably the best of the series.

I got them for you, and edited my post. I think they were the openers for season 3.

...and then couldn't bring himself to tell her what happened to Lennon, IIRC.

Yeah, sorry. It wasn't '90. But I'm 99% sure they were the opening eps for Season 3. And they're not on DVD, but I think were released on VHS for awhile, if you really want to own them.

Just to confirm, it's season 3 (and 1990). The series was a mid-season replacement, so the first season is the first half of 1989, then 1989-1990, then 1990-1991, etc.

That was one of my favorite episodes as well. The ending of the 2nd part was amazingly sad.

just keep track of sci-fi they show these two a lot when they do the QL marathons. or wait a few weeks until the 2AM weekday run of QL gets up to that point. I think they're still in season 1

"the Leap home" and "MIA" are probably the best of an awesome series. I'm buying all the dvds - and I even skipped Star Trek TNG, which was tough for me.

They just showed these two terrific eps within the last three weeks on SciFi. Man, I forgot how good QL could be.

I don't wanna spoil it for anyone seeing it for the first time, but the text at the very end of the finale will get anyone that followed the series (or paid attention during the finale) blubbering like a baby.

BTW, loved D-Day as the 'bartender' in that ep......
