Hi,
I looking into buying a home theater system for the first time. Can someone tell me a good place to start researching what kind of equipment I should get?

I've done lots of research at hometheaterforum.com search through their threads and they'll let you know whats up. Also, stay away from audio review.com it seems that on that site people only rate what they like and very rarely unless something really bites will it be marked as bad, but you can always check it out and make up your own mind.

Above posters mentioned Hometheaterforum and Audioreview - both are great sites to start.

I would start with audioreview.com, but once you narrow down your components I would check out Pricegrabber.com's side-by-side comparson. Its a really cool service that lets you compare product specs and other usful info. I've used it a few times and found it very helpful.

I like Cnet as well and I also like Deja.com -- reviews from actual users!
