Morrissey "You Are the Quarry"
I heard an advance of the album, and it sounds nice.
I need to listen more before making an official opinion.
Anybody heard the record or single?

I pisted earlier in the other thread about his tour, but I really like the single, downloaded from Itunes.
I especially like the never played symphonies, and I love the artwork for you are the quarry.

I also obtained this through illegal methods. I've only listened to it a few times, but I like it. The single is great, and I really like First of The Gang To Die. I like the B-sides also. It's nice to see Morrissey back, it's been a while.

I got an advance copy of the album and IMO it's really, really great. Back to old form!
lyrics of the 1st song off the album, "America is not the world" :
AMERICA IS NOT THE WORLD
America
your head’s too big / because
America your belly’s too big
and I love you
I just wish you’d stay where you is / in
America / the land of the Free, they said
and of opportunity
in a Just / and a Truthful way
but where the President is never black
or female or gay / and until that day
you’ve got nothing to say to me
to help me believe / in
America / it brought you the hamburger
well America / you know where
you can shove your hamburger
and don’t you wonder
why in Estonia / they say “hey you, /
you big fat pig” / “you fat pig” / “you fat pig”
Steely-blue eyes / with no love in them
scan the world
and a humourless smile
with no warmth within
greets the world
and I / I have got nothing / to offer you
just this heart deep and true
which you say you don’t need
- see with your eyes / touch with your hands
- please
- hear through your ears / know in your soul
- please
for haven’t you me with you now?
and I love you / I love you / I love you
I love you / I love you / I love you
be prepared for some slaps at america.

I haven't heard anything off this album, but I'm really looking forward to it. It'll bring me back to my teenage years. Ah, good times.
Also, it got me to thinking of Dana Gould's spot-on Morrissey impression. Anyone ever hear it (the one where he sings the song called "Clown F***er")? Classic.

Recorded with producer Jerry Finn, the man behind Blink 182, Green Day and AFI, in London and Los Angeles.
I think its great that he's even getting media coverage and airplay. his single was the #1 downloaded on Itunes all week.

Is "Irish Blood, English Heart" getting airplay on major stations? I've heard it here in Chicago in WXRT, but they generally play a very eclectic mix anyways. If this could get onto the adult contemporary or even alternative stations, it would be great. I think it sounds relatively radio-friendly.
Not that I listen much to the radio, but the more people who know about his talent, the better.
