The return of Mulder & Scully: X-Files 2

Duchovny Expects Second 'X-Files' Movie
2 hours, 30 minutes ago

By The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - David Duchovny expects that Mulder and Scully will ride again one day. Duchovny said a second big-screen installment of "The X-Files" remains in the works. Though he doesn't know the plot, Duchovny said "X-Files" creator Chris Carter has signed off on the story premise.

"I'm dying to hear it," the 43-year-old actor told The Associated Press in an interview for his new movie "Connie and Carla," starring Nia Vardalos and Toni Collette, which opens April 16. "So now it's just a matter of making sure everybody can get together at the same time and do it."

Duchovny starred as alien-hunting FBI agent Mulder for seven full seasons of "The X-Files," worked part-time for an eighth season and returned for the series finale at the end of season nine.

He and co-star Gillian Anderson, who played Mulder's skeptical partner, Scully, also starred in the 1998 movie version of "The X-Files."

"I'm at the point where I finally miss it," Duchovny said. "I wanted the grind to end, but I never wanted the show just to end. And I'd always had this fantasy and hope that it would be a movie franchise. Hopefully, this second movie will give it a foundation as such."

-------------------------

Take it for what it's worth... we all know how long Tom Arnold has been spouting off about another True Lies movie.

However, this is something for our HSX league traders to consider.

I can't wait as well.
I mean the X files is alot about of things.

David D menstioned Supernatural thriller, X files does that well, I mean the Alien consipiracy has been pushed alot in the series and 1st film, so naturally they'll do a more stand alone film, and Carter has had time to think up ideas, sounds exciting. It will be a important film for the x files fanchise, yes Fox did allow the series to continue one season too many, but if total up X files episodes, they did a hell of a lot of great work, with hardly no break time as big as when the series finished, David D up for it, Carter has had alot of time off to think, looking promising.

I'm really happy to see this get made. Here's hoping that a) it's good and b) the x-files will continue as a big screen franchise. I think X-files has run it's television course, but there's definite potential in a longer running sci-fi movie franchise.

The plot should pick up right where Seasons 1-5 and the movie left off ..... basically create an "alternate universe" to the less-than-enthralling seasons 6-9.

I am watching season 8 right now(1st time since airing), and I don't see why it gets the amount of shit it does. I've watched probably the first 8 episodes and only one was dreadful. The one with the man/bat. The rest are excellent, up there with the best of them Within, Without, Redrum, Via Negativa, Roadrunners, and surekill are great. Patience is mediocre though. Robert Patrick is excellent as Doggett.

I also thought that the later seasons got a bad rap. They weren't always brilliant, but I agree that Robert Patrick really was great on that show. Too bad he can't find just the right "breakthrough" part. He really is a good character actor.

I will be first in line for anything starring Gillan.

I would definitely want to see this. Hopefully it will, and with all the right people. It would suck if some key people wouldn't sign on, but I would understand their fear about it.

Of course the X-File fan base is pretty damn rabid, even still I would think, so it would make a decent profit if they don't get too high in the budget.
