Misfits Question

I was hoping that someone on the board might be able to give me some info on some Misfits releases. The other night I found an AFI cover of last caress, which prompted me to find the original. I guess I was a late bloomer I never cared for the Misfits in high school so I never made an attempt to seek out information from the kids that were. When I started checking various websites for release info I was blown away, it's seems like they were putting out records every week. My question in this long post is, is there a streamlined collection that would be worth me picking up instead trying to track down all of the reprints on CD. I'm interested only in the Glenn Danzig era Misfits. Thanks in advance.

If you are looking for the absolute best in Danzig-era Misfits, I suggest getting the Misfits box set.

It includes Collection I, Collection II, Legacy of Brutality, EvilLive, Earth A.D., a sessions disc and Static Age. This is pretty much all of the Danzig Misfits releases except for Walk Among Us, but the same songs are in the box set, just different versions.

I have the Misfits box set and it's great, although a bit expensive. If you don't want to spend much try to find the Collection I & II CD's they have some of their best songs, including "Last Caress".

Get the boxset and pick up Walk Among us. That is all you need.

And disregard any release without Glenn Danzig.

You can't go wrong with the box set. Great booklet included too. Just don't ask Glenn to sign it for you...

I thought Glenn was still getting money off the box set and other Glenn era Misfits property. I know he sold the name Jerry sometime in the 90's (IIRC) but I thought he still retained the rights and $$ to his stuff.

I think he means, he sold the Misfits name TO Jerry. Probably a typo on his part.

For giggles I went to a signing at a local comic book store not long after the coffin-box set first came out and he said "I'm not signing that, I didn't make any money off that, that's bull$@#!".

It didn't really make a difference to me, he'd been washed up for years, but why penalize the fans? I can understand being upset considereing how he pretty much was the misfits, but I think the princess of darkness needs to lighten up a bit and get over himself.

I can not beleive he was stupid enough to give away the rights to HIS misfits. This has got to be one of the dumbest things I have heard of from the music industry.

What is he doing now? Bar concerts?

I agree except remove the "Danzig-era" part.
Any song without Danzig's involvement is not The Misfits.

Does anyone know the exact reason why he left the Misfits? I tried searching for Misfits websites but the most of them are dead links or don't give any explanation to his departure.

He left to concentrate on his own project, Samhain (which later became Danzig).

What, did Danzig sell the publishing rights to all the Misfits songs and lyrics as well? If not, he should have still seen some money from the box set, because he wrote all the songs himself.
